Norra Vättern has an archipelago with its own nature reserve. Here at the northern tip of the lake is Olshammar and a bit up is Askersund with a nice harbor for recreational boats. To the west are the large lakes Undern and Skagern. On the southern part of the map leaf is Karlsborg's powerful fortress on the shore of Vättern. The fortress was supposed to house both king and parliament in the 19th century if there was war.
