The plateau mountains that rise out of the Västergötland plain are bursting with exciting stories about the development of the earth, the spread of man in the area and the history of Sweden. In this cycling package, you enjoy quiet bike rides along scenic gravel roads with little traffic and discover Lugnåsberget, one of Västergötland's unique plateau mountains.
Around Lugnåsberget there is an exciting stone history to discover. You cycle at your own pace on winding gravel roads through mighty large forests. At the top of the mountain there is a rich agricultural landscape with plateau mountains in the horizons. Just five kilometers away, the tranquil forest lake Vristulven and historical sights such as an ancient castle, a robber's dwelling and a wolf pit await you. Whether you cycle in spring, summer or fall, you will be greeted by a vibrant and beautiful nature. In spring, the forest smells of wild garlic, hedges and lilacs, while autumn offers vibrant colors and fresh air.
You stay at Lugnåsberget Ekohotell with good standard and comfortable beds. All rooms have a kitchenette where you can cook your own food, private entrance and toilet / shower in the room. After a day on the bike, you can unwind with a relaxing wood-fired sauna. The hotel's breakfast basket includes homemade bread, jam, juice, cold cuts and lots of goodies.
You arrive in the afternoon and check in at Lugnåsberget Ekohotell. In the garden there are beautiful lawns and in the pasture sheep graze. At the reception you will get a short briefing of bicycles and maps.
Today you will cycle to Kvarnstenstorget, a place where millstones were cut and stored. Many stones were left behind in the forests and are still there for us to discover. You cycle on to the beautiful view at Lugnås church. After today's peaceful adventure, a relaxing evening awaits in your comfortable room. As a perfect ending, you can enjoy the warmth of the wood-fired sauna and let the day's impressions sink in.
Your organic breakfast basket is available in the breakfast kitchen. Take your time, here you will find homemade bread, jam, seasonal juices, eggs, yogurt and good spreads.
Today you cycle through the beautiful farmland and follow the winding gravel roads down to the magical forest lake Vristulven. Walk along the quiet shore, with the lake on one side and the deep forest on the other - a place of peace and discovery. You'll continue to some of the forest's secret spots, finding your way with the help of the map.
Back at the eco-hotel, you can take a sauna and cook a delicious dinner in peace and quiet. The hosts will tell you where to buy ingredients. Enjoy good food and drink before it's time for a good night's sleep.
After a good night's sleep, a delicious breakfast awaits. With many cycling memories in your luggage, you check out from Lugnåsberget Ekohotell. Take the opportunity to visit the Qvarnstensgruvan on the way home. There you can get a guided tour above and below ground. The small café serves homemade buns, waffles, coffee and local ice cream.
