Karlskrona is the largest city in Blekinge, the landscape sometimes called the garden of Sweden. That says a lot about the pleasant climate. Inside the heritage town of Karlskrona, the streets, squares and houses are inspired by the Baroque, and from there it is close to Blekinge's beautiful archipelago and its unique nature.
Karlskrona was founded in the 1680s because King Karl XI needed an ice-free harbor for the kingdom's warships. It is built on a number of islands and the entrance was well guarded by the two fortresses Kungsholm Fort and Aspö Castle. During this tour you will visit both.
This is an easy cycling package for those who like history and want to experience Blekinge archipelago. You also have the opportunity to rent an electric bike. In Karlskrona there are several good restaurants, and take the opportunity to try body cakes and fried herring, which are some of the region's specialties. If you are interested in shipping and warships, a visit to the Naval Museum will be a really nice experience.
Before Midsummer, there are limited opening hours at cafés/restaurants and slightly fewer boat trips.

Day 1 - Karlskrona - Nättraby
Amiralsgården Verstorp, Karlskrona
about 12 km
You arrive in Karlskrona and take the archipelago boat M/F Axel to Nättraby, a pleasant trip of just over half an hour where the last part goes into the beautiful Nättrabyån. Disembarkation takes place at the small church built in the 12th century, with much of the interior since the 17th century.
You cycle through the community out towards Sjuhalla and Skärva. Then cycling back to Nättraby for dinner. Overnight stay is at Amiralsgården, Verstorp, which is located in the middle of a nature reserve.
Day 2 - Nättraby - Karlskrona

The second day you decide whether you want to ride a bike or take the boat to Karlskrona. At the Marine Museum you can look at interesting things from Karlskrona's history and here it is excellent to have lunch. On the menu, besides "today's dish" there are special dishes from Blekinge, such as body cakes and fried herring.
In the afternoon, you will take the guided tour to Kungsholmen, which together with the castle on Aspö was built as an effective defense of the entrance to Karlskrona. During the tour, you will also visit the exciting park with plants from all over the world. You will be back in the city in the evening and stay overnight at a selected hotel in Karlskrona, close to restaurants and pleasant walking paths.
Day 3 - Karlskrona - Aspö

After a good breakfast you can choose to look around in the world heritage city Karlskrona, maybe play mini golf on Dragsö where the course is a Karlskrona in miniature or visit the nice hometown park on Wämö. Sometimes it is possible to follow a guided hike linked to the world heritage. You can when you want to take the ferry to the island of Aspö. The ferry leaves once an hour.
At Aspö there are several nice cycle paths, and the day can be rounded off at Kastellet where you immerse yourself in history and have dinner with the framing of the thick stone walls or out in the courtyard. You sleep in the former lot tower some distance away, with a fantastic view of the archipelago.
Day 4 - Aspö - Karlskrona

After breakfast, take the ferry back to Karlskrona. Depending on how much time you want to spend in the city before it is time to go home, you will get suggestions on nice cycling routes in the immediate area. Maybe you choose to stay an extra night, and experience more of the Blekinge archipelago?

We have had a really good trip with unforgettable experiences. You had found nice accommodations that we had not come up with ourselves. Sweden is a good place to vacation, so we are considering Øland next year.
