The Blekinge Region facilitates bicycles on trains

It will be easier and cheaper to bring the bike on the train in Blekinge from December 10, 2017. Region Blekinge is redesigning the systems so that the traveler can bring the bike on the train at no extra cost.

So far, it has worked so that one has had to redeem a ticket (at child fare) even for the bike. The Blekinge region now hopes that travel by public transport will increase when you bring your bike free of charge. It will also be free of charge to take the bike on the M / F Flaggskär ferry which runs on the Sturkö Bredavik - Trossö Handelshamnen route.

- By making it free to take the bike on the train, we want to make it easier for those travelers who already bring their bike on the trains, but also stimulate and increase the use of bicycles in combination with public transport, says Christina Mattisson (S), regional council in Blekinge.

International experience shows that it is advantageous for bicycle tourism when it is easy to take bicycles on trains, buses, ferries and other public transport.
