On Friday, June 28, Uppsala County Governor Göran Enander inaugurated the first part of the new bicycle trail The Fourth Century Trail by personally cycling parts of it. We asked Mats Thorburn at the association Fjärdhundraland how the visit and bike ride ended.
The governor was very pleased, with alternating cycling and that it was close between many interesting meetings. He happened to have a little headwind, but also had a headwind, says Mats Thorburn.
What distance does the Fourth Century Trail have and what attractions are along the way?
It is a stretch from Fjärdhundra to Örsundsbro north of Enköping. We have made sure that it passes a number of cafes, so that one can eat measured, but also historical attractions. In order to make the story understandable, we have made audio guidance in the Storyspot app in nine places, something that has been greatly appreciated.
Is it that the governor sees bicycle tourism in the Fourth Century as a great opportunity?
He talked a lot about how the close collaboration between Fjärdhundandland's small businesses makes the area open and easily accessible, and how the bike has taken him closer to both nature and the people he met along the way. So this is a governor who believes in the possibilities of the bike!
