Enjoy leisurely bike rides along beautiful, quiet roads and visit scenic spots with the kids. Combine cycling with swimming and beach life on one of the beautiful beaches nearby. Adapted for families with small children, the cycling tours guarantee an exciting and memorable adventure for the whole family.
Stay in family rooms at the comfortable Hotel Gustaf Fröding, just outside the city center. The hotel is located right next to the car-free Klarälvsbanan with free parking and its own pool. The package includes a cargo bike with space for two children. You can book an extra electric bike if you are several adults. The bike will be delivered to the hotel on arrival and you will receive a briefing on the various functions. You have the bike for three days and can choose how you want to spend the days. Do you feel that you want to experience even more and want to stay a little longer? Then you simply book an extra night. We have loaded up with several nice bike rides to discover in the immediate area!

Day 1 - Karlstad and the popular Strandturen
Hotel Gustaf Fröding, Karlstad

Check into Hotel Gustaf Fröding, which is located right by the car-free Klarälvsbanan cycle path. Now a hugely appreciated bike ride awaits with many possibilities. Either you choose a few hours of beach hanging or a small detour with a visit to the farm shop. If the clouds spoil your swimming plans, we recommend a visit to the popular adventure playground at Museiparken.
In central Karlstad there are the Union Trail and Väner Trail cycle paths. You cycle in a westerly direction towards the lovely Bomstadbaden, Lake Vänern's own riviera. To reach Bomstadbaden, you make a simple detour from the bike trail. Here you will find a lovely sandy beach with sun loungers and a cozy restaurant right next to the water, perfect for enjoying a tasty lunch.
If you are in the mood for a longer bike ride, you can continue on the Unionsleden/Vänerleden to the charming Liljenäs Gård. Here you can relax with a cup of coffee and enjoy a delicious ice cream waffle. If you prefer to swim from rocks, Skutberget's bathing area is close to Bomstadbaden and offers a fantastic swimming experience.
Day 2 - The island tour on Hammarö in Lake Vänern

Hammarö is an idyllic archipelago island connected to the mainland by the small bridge at "Grandpa's river". There are several lovely cycle paths from central Karlstad to Hammarö, but one of the most picturesque leads along the river, past the golf course and on to Lillängshamnen. A perfect break on the way is to enjoy a lunch at Lillängshamnen's Fish Smokery, where you can enjoy the food in a charming harbor environment.
On Hammarö there are short hiking trails that offer great views of the scenic 'inland sea', and you can take a refreshing swim. For art lovers, there is also the Hammarö Art Gallery to explore.
As you cycle back towards Karlstad, you'll follow a convenient cycle path that takes you past the large nature reserves on Karlstad's west side, known for their rich birdlife. You can also make a detour to the charming Button Town Café, located by the river in the Knappstad Forest. The café is only accessible by bike or on foot and offers not only coffee but also full rights. If you prefer, you can also take your bike on one of the boat buses that run along the river. There is a stop outside the Button Town Café. When you return to the hotel, you can look forward to a relaxing evening in your comfortable room.
Day 3 - Naturum Värmland and Lillskogen Zoo

Before it's time for your trip home, we have two great tips located in Mariebergsskogen just outside the city. Take a look at Naturum Värmland, which is located in the middle of the Klarälven delta with water and forest close by. Here you can hear the mysterious sounds of fish, feel bear fur and learn about our most common birds.
Lillskogen Zoo has cows, ponies, pigs, goats, sheep, rabbits and ducks waiting for your visit. The chickens run free and strut around in the gravel on the stable floor. In spring, you will have the chance to see the newborn baby animals.
