Norra Sörmlands Jernväg was inaugurated in 1895 and closed down in 2004. In this bicycle package, you literally cycle in the middle of the Sörmland landscape on the old railway embankment. The tour goes through magic forest and agricultural land outside Eskilstuna. The surface consists of smooth asphalt that was completed in 2018. As it is easy to find and almost no uphills, even small children can handle the cycling without problems.

The starting point for this package is Vilsta Sporthotell just outside Eskilstuna. A facility with restaurant, hotel rooms, cottages and many different activities to choose from. While cycling on the embankment, you pass the idyllic Ärla and finally arrive at Eklången where there is a bathing lake. Along the embankment there are nice rest areas that are perfect for a coffee break. Vilsta Sporthotell also has cabins for rent. To book a bike: 016-513032 or 073-7081487.

Day 1 - From Vilsta to Eklången round trip

The starting point for the bike package is Vilsta Sporthotell where you will spend the night. You either have your own bike or rent on site. When you are ready for departure, take aim at the rebuilt embankment that begins near Vilsta.

Cycling on the embankment up to Eklången is simple and child-friendly. Cycle back the same way in peace and quiet for dinner and overnight at Vilsta. If there is time left over, a trip along the Eskilstuna River is recommended. Inside the city there are cafes and other events.

Day 2 - Homemade breakfast bread at Vilsta sporthotell

After a good night's sleep in the green surroundings of Vilsta Sporthotell, it's time to have a good breakfast at the hotel before it's time to go home.

Maybe you choose to extend your stay and stay an extra night? In the area there are outdoor swimming pools and fishing. Vilstaskogen has large walking areas with exercise trails, electric light trails and opportunities for relaxation. You can also make a detour to Torshälla with its cozy alleys, cobblestones and wooden houses or central Eskilstuna with great cycling along the Eskilstuna River.

No bike map, too few rest stops. There were no pumps available to borrow along the route. It was a long ride to the starting point on the embankment.

It was a nice bike ride to Torshälla and inside the old town in Eskilstuna. We visited the forge (I can't remember the name right now) where a very talented girl showed us how she worked superbly with iron bars. E tuna is a very nice city with its beautiful bike ride along the river. Thanks for this time!
