We have had an absolutely wonderful vacation. The accommodation and hosts were absolutely fantastic, good at information and very good breakfasts! Five stars on everything!

Welcome to a 3-day "island hopping" on Öckerö's 10 islands. You experience the islands by bicycle, ferry and on foot. You live at our family-owned Bed & Bike on the main island, Öckerö. The West Coast is a real holiday favorite for many and this bike package is suitable for those who want to experience solar-heated cliffs, picturesque fishing villages and delicious sea food. Child discount is provided upon request based on your wishes and needs.

This bike package is a ready-made proposal, but of course there is also the possibility to design your own trip adapted to your wishes and needs together with your host Marianne. There are 3 double rooms and 1 single room, common living room, kitchenette and WC / shower on the second floor, in a charming, over a hundred year old archipelago house. Hyppeln, Källö-Knippla, Kalvsund and Grötö are other unique islands that can be reached by ferry and bike/hike or kayak. These islands also have hiking trails and wonderful nature. There are also fantastic places to eat on Hyppeln, Källö-Knippla and Björkö.

Day 1 - Cycle to Rörö with hike in the nature reserve

After the arrival, enjoy a delicious latte, and then hop on your bikes alt. our rental bikes and head north towards Burö and the yellow ferry to Rörö.

Upon arrival, take a stop at the Rörö harbor. This is the home port for the "Astrid", one of Sweden's largest fishing vessels. The regional coast guard vessel is also located here. At the harbor's edge, you'll find the Röröboa Cafe and Restaurant where you'll pick up your lunch. Take a bike ride between the beautifully picturesque archipelago houses to the small harbor of Apelvik in the northeast.

On the west side of the island lies the Rörö Nature Reserve with its fantastic hiking trails. Here, vast fields of boulders stretch towards the west and a swim-friendly sandy beach towards the south. With a little luck, you may even encounter some of the wild horses and sheep grazing on the heaths.

Day 2 - Cycle to Björkö with a detour to Kalvsund or Grötö

After a filling breakfast buffet, you'll set off on your bikes to the Öckerö ferry terminal for an exciting boat ride to Björkö. On the way, you'll pass the beautiful Kalvsund with the lighthouse Valen and the Bremerska Villa.

At Framnäs, you'll disembark and bike north to the Björkö harbor where you'll pick up your lunch at the "Feskeboa." Be sure to check out the Ship Trading as well. After your harbor tour, you'll bike through the Björkö community, passing through beautiful oak forests, open landscapes, and Bohuslän cliffs until you reach the picturesque fishing village of Bovik. In season, you can find both beautiful orchids and bluebells along the road. On the way back, you can make a detour to Grötö or Kalvsund.

After returning home and a cooling shower, it's time to cycle down to the restaurants in Klåva where we can recommend Tullhuset with its fantastic fish dishes or one of the other restaurants such as Franses Skärgårdspub, Sockermaja by Lilling and Skärgårdshotellet.

Day 3 - Cycling to Hönö and Fotö

After a lovely breakfast, you cycle via the Öckerö Hembygdsmuseum, Hönö art gallery and Galleri Gårda further south and over the bridge to the southernmost island, Fotö. There, you can stroll around the preserved archipelago settlement.

Then head for the center of Hönö Klåva with its many small and exciting shops, restaurants and cafés. At 12:00 you board the M/S Belle-Amie which takes you, via islets and skerries, on a much appreciated and exciting guided tour to Vinga. The tour takes 2.5 hours so there is time for shopping and a visit to the island's fishing museum which shows life on the Öckerö islands through the ages. You end the boat trip with a delicious lunch at Tullhuset/Hönö Klåva.

Day 4 - Time to go home

From Gothenburg: Road 155 towards Hisingen/Öckerö to Lilla Varholmen ferry terminal. Then free car ferry to Hönö. After the ferry, turn right at the first roundabout, drive over the bridge and you are on Öckerö. Turn first road to the left (Sörgårdsvägen) after the third roundabout turn right. Second house on the left.

We are happy to pick you up at the Hönö ferry terminal. Please book in advance.

Bus 290 runs all the way from Gothenburg Central Station to Öckerö. The Red Express goes to the Lilla Varholmen ferry terminal. From there you can take the ferry to Hönö and then bus 290 or bus 1 to Öckerö. For current timetables: vasttrafik.se

We had wonderful days on the Öcker Islands. We had incredible weather with glorious sunshine every day. This of course made a lot for the experience, but also at Bed and Bike and their program was great. Marianne has created a perfect day program that allows you to experience many of the beautiful islands. A great stay on Öckerö! We were very unlucky with the weather as it was not possible to cycle the first two days, but we had a great time anyway. Our hostess Marianne was absolutely fantastic and took care of us in a warm and wonderful way. However, the bikes were quite rickety and difficult to change the height of the handlebar and saddle. We are happy to return another year with hopefully a little more cycling and less rain and wind ... Greetings Lotta, Andreas, Katarina and Anders
