Helsingborg City Hall

Welcome to Helsingborg! Experience the city's charm and visit the unique core with the only remaining building from the medieval Helsingborg Castle. Enjoy a walk along the sea or visit Dunkers Cultural Centre. Take a trip to Denmark, just 20 minutes away by boat to Helsingør. There, you can visit Kronborg Castle, which is on UNESCO's World Heritage List. It was here that William Shakespeare's famous play Hamlet took place.

Cycle north and visit Sofiero Castle and its castle garden with more than 10,000 rhododendron bushes blooming between May and June. Other gems along the way are the picturesque fishing villages of Domsten and Viken. Experience the grand landscape on the dramatic Kullahalvön peninsula. Rönne River meanders through the 500-year-old town of Ängelholm. Get up close and personal with the sightseeing boat Laxen. You can also paddle or fish here. Overnight stay takes place at Valhall Park Hotel in Ängelholm.

Kattegattleden - Ängelholm - Båstad

After a delicious breakfast, it's time to continue the bike tour towards Båstad. You will experience many sights along the way. This part of the Kattegattleden is slightly more hilly, so take the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful views of the sea!

After breakfast, you head towards the day's destination, Halmstad, a picturesque miniature metropolis bustling with life. You cycle along the long sandy beach of Laholm Bay and can stop for lunch or a snack in Skummeslövsstrand. A short distance from the Kattegattleden lies the beautiful Skottorp Castle and the cozy Laholm, the oldest city in Halland. Next, you arrive at Mellbystrand, a classic seaside resort with a 12-kilometer-long sandy beach.

On your way to Halmstad, you can make a detour to the Påarp burial ground, Halland's largest burial ground with around 200 burial cairns and 50 stone settlements from the early Iron Age. Don't miss visiting the 17th century Halmstad Castle, which was built during the time when Halmstad and Halland were Danish. The castle has a very beautiful park, and you can join a guided tour. Accommodation is at Elite Hotel Mårtenson in Halmstad.

The day begins with breakfast at the hotel, and then you cycle west towards Tylösand, Frösakull, Ringenäs, and Vilshärad. At the windmill in Särdal, there is a cozy café and a farm shop worth a stop. After that, you continue cycling towards Ugglarp. Here, we recommend making a detour to Svedino's Car & Aircraft Museum, which has an impressive collection of around 100 old cars and 40 airplanes.

Then, you cycle inland through a rolling agricultural landscape. Feel free to stop at the Smörkull lookout point and Grimsholmen Nature Reserve before arriving at the medieval town of Falkenberg and the popular Skrea beach with its long bathing pier. Don't miss the beautiful Tullbron, where you can try crab fishing among the rocks. RIAN Design Museum and Lilla Napoli, a small pizzeria with high ambitions, are some of the highlights during a visit to the town. Overnight stay takes place at Hotel Hamngatan 27 in Falkenberg, housed in an old Q-labeled maritime warehouse.

The day starts with a lovely breakfast at the hotel. Today, you will cycle towards Varberg, through open landscapes with untouched nature and past popular beaches like Olofsbo, Björkäng, and Apelviken. There is a good selection if you want to grab an ice cream or eat a meal. If you prefer less well-known swimming spots, we recommend Stafsinge beach or Petters brygga.

Along the way, there is a rich bird life, several nature reserves, and picturesque fishing villages like Lövstaviken, Glommen, and Träslövsläge. You can stop at charming small farm shops and visit artisan craftsmen. Apelviken is a well-known paradise for windsurfers.

You continue cycling towards Varberg's harbor with its cold bathhouse and societypark. Here, you can see Varberg's fortress towering up. If you still have energy left, you can cycle all the way up and enjoy the spectacular view. This night's accommodation takes place at the Clarion Collection Hotel Fregatten in Varberg.

You continue cycling through small communities and urban environments. Through Frillesås, you share the road with cars, which requires normal attention. In the fishing village of Bua harbor, you can sample the delicacies of the sea. We recommend a detour to Tjolöholm Castle, the premier Arts and Crafts facility in the Nordic countries and Sweden's only castle in the Tudor style. The path is nice, but I think too many stretches are too close to car traffic. The official information (advertisement) of the Kattegatleden unfortunately does not mention this at all. This would be very helpful to make some individual decisions on detours.

Very well arranged, everything worked perfectly all the way. Lovely and "homey" accommodations, but also great hotels. The cycling worked perfectly all the way, we are happy with our electric bikes since we got a lot of headwind. Highly recommend this trip.

Sometimes far between signs, cycled wrong a couple of times. It would be good if the location of accommodation was indicated on the accommodation voucher In Falkenberg we discovered that Kvarnens pensionat was far ahead of do. Clumsy of us but human.

The quality of the accommodation was very, very different - one below standard (Kvarnens Pensionat, Falkenberg), others were very good

Hi! It is true that Kvarnens Pensionat is simpler than the others, but very cozy, charming, clean and neat. The reason we booked this was because all our "regular" accommodations were already fully booked on this date, but it is certainly not the first time we use them and our guests are usually satisfied. Thank you for your comments. Kind regards, Monika.

You were really good to deal with - quick response time, very good accommodation booked and (apart from one minor problem) luggage arriving promptly. The cycle track is exceptionally clear to follow and cycling in Sweden is brilliant. Other road users are so courteous and Swedish people were friendly and helpful without exception. Thank you very much for all your help.

Half the accommodations were excellent, the other half not that good. Bike path, the seaside sectors were beautiful, but only a small percentage of the total, this somewhat disappointing. There were places where better signage was warranted. Thanks to great weather we enjoyed post ride swimming five days of seven days.

The Kattegat Trail was a great experience. Lots of great nature, excellent cycle paths. We will probably return another time to take a nybled, possibly that our cycling group takes this trip.

Thank you for a very good arrangement 🙏 Unfortunately, we had some rain and wind but everything went well anyway. You can't control the weather. But sometimes you wish you had electricity on the bike but we did not. Very picturesque trail with many nice places on the road. So beautiful with all the wild flowers, berries, trees and fields etc. along the cycling. The Kattegat signs went well to follow except when you start coming in towards Gothenburg. Very satisfied and there will certainly be more cycling framöver🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️ framöver🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️

A nice arrangement. Long enough stages for us 60+ on regular bikes. Nice nature experiences as the trail often goes close to the coast. Good food at the accommodations we had - on some even unexpectedly good! 🙂. On a couple of occasions, however, we felt that the signage of the trail was somewhat unclear.

Got great help via Sweden by Bike to book a section of the Kattegat Trail. The trail is so well signposted that it is impossible to cycle wrong, so we never really needed the detailed map package. Our accommodations were nice and the food good, and we had received tips from the organizer on cozy side trips to do. Above all, the organizer was extremely easy to have and do with, really service-minded! Warm thanks to Monica and Martin! Thanks also to Sweden by Bike, which collects so many good routes on an easy-to-navigate page. This is the third time we hire Sweden by Bike for a tour somewhere in the country and more times it will surely be!

Fantastic place and experience. I highly recommend the tour to the nature lovers.

A wonderful way to get to know our beautiful country from the saddle. We are very happy with the arrangement and the hotels we were helped to book. Good that we could have dinner where we stayed if we wanted to. The cycle path was usually easy to follow, although some doubtful places where a sign was missing. The cafes that are marked on the map did not always exist... The treatment from the organizer was very good, appreciated that Monica got in touch to ask how we were doing during the tour. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Overall we had a good time exploring a beautiful area of Sweden. I would have wished that the hotels* and bicycles** were of better quality; the cycling path itself was well marked and maintained and it was easy to follow just based on road signs. The contact with the travel agency was excellent. *only two hotels deserve a 4 star rating, the others 2 stars, which was disappointing, given the price **we got bikes with 18 and 21 gears, but there was no attention to detail: squeeking disc brakes, no bottle holders, missing bell on one bike, unlubricated chains.

Dear Mo, thank you very much for your feedback, we strive to get better with every feedback we get from our guests.

On the accommodation, selected accommodations, as stated on the package are within the proximity of the trail, with consideration to riding distances. On request we could have adjusted the tour to fit your desired requirements.

On the bikes, we work with very good and reliable rental bikes providers and we will pass your comments to them and make sure that the shortfalls you mentioned are addressed.

Thank you again for your feedback and we wish you a great summer!

Fantastic nice bike ride close to the sea and through beautiful scenery. Nice accommodation and cozy eateries for both lunch and dinner. Thank you for a well-organized arrangement!

Kattegatt trail is very well marked. Good bike roads. Only a few parts along roads with traffic. We had a lot of wind that was blowing from the North, but luckily no rain. All in all a nice bike ride! Very good and nice service. Perfect new bikes. And bikes for the children. Thank you!
June 2022, Bo K.
The accommodation was a bit varied. In Båstad there were some repairs that needed to be carried out and it was a bit sad that the staff went home early not to return. Other accommodations absolutely excellent. Food was only included in two places.
June 2022, Cristina E.
Incredibly satisfied! There were a few stretches along the E6 that weren't so fun - we turned off and cycled the Prins Bertil trail towards Tylösand instead - absolutely fantastic. So it's probably the stretch between Halmstad - Tylösand that wasn't so much fun, but Prins Bertil made the stretch fantastic.
July 2021, Morgan A.
Even though we booked very late, we are satisfied. It was only the accommodation in Frillesås that was a little too remote.
July 2021, Agneta E.
Just returned home after a lovely cycle ride along the Kattegattle trail Helsingborg-Gothenburg. Very well marked trail so a map was not needed. Good hotel with pleasant hospitality and fantastic weather. Many thanks to Monika at Sakura Tours for great service!
