Take the bike on the night train to Åre

Anyone who wants to take a train to Åre in September can bring the bike. It is the train operator Snälltåget that operates the Malmö route, via Stockholm to Åre, which creates the opportunity on their night trains. Sweden by Bike asked Snälltåg's marketing manager Marco Andersson to tell us more.

You started the venture on August 30, 2017 and are continuing through week 38. What does it cost and how do you do it?
It costs SEK 99 to bring the bike on a single trip. To be sure of getting a seat, there are a total of 12 seats, so you can pre-book ticket purchases when you buy at Snälltåget.se. It is optional when choosing a connection. We like to pack the bike a bit because we put several bikes together.

Is it a desire of the customers to be able to bring the bike?
Yes, it is a wish that those who go to, for example, Åre and Storlien have expressed, and the entrepreneurs at the resorts.

What measures do you need to be able to transport bicycles to and from Åre?
We transport bicycles and larger luggage in a special carriage that is locked during travel, otherwise we have only made minor adjustments in the carriage.
