The cycling tourist week is organized at a specific location once a year by the local cycles in the cycle promotion. On August 5-10, 2019, Kristianstad in Skåne will host the event.
During the week, there will be a number of pre-packaged bike tours in Kristianstad that provide great cultural, nature and food experiences along the way. Participants can cycle all week or a single round. In the start and finish area of the Tivoli Park, an event area will be built up with activities for young and old.

We are convinced that cyclists will be an important target group for our visitor industry in the future, ”says Ella Ekenberg, who is an event coordinator and project manager at Kristianstad Municipality.
Events in Skåne is also involved in the work of the Cycle Tour Week and collaborates with the Municipality of Kristianstad because bicycle tourism is regarded as an important area.

In line with the increased interest in environment and health, bicycle tourism has become increasingly popular around the world. When the bicycle route Sydostleden between Växjö and Simrishamn was inaugurated in 2016, it was with a clear goal to attract more cycling tourists to southern Sweden. For hundreds of members of the Bicycle Promotion, the Bike Tour Week since 1983 has been a highlight of the year. Now the Cykel promotion wants to further expand the event and attract more people.
- The ambition is now, together with the Municipality of Kristianstad, to broaden the range in the Cycle Tour Week and create an event that caters to everyone who wants to experience cycling joy and tourist in Kristianstad, says Cykelfrämjandets project manager Erik Svedin.
