Forests, Lakes and Castles with MTB in Östergötland

This is a real height package for you who like mountain biking! During a few eventful days, you get around by bike on beautiful paths and almost car-free gravel roads. You live well and cycle past beautiful lakes, get to experience the fantastic forests around Kolmården and the beautiful archipelago at Arkösund. Last night you sleep at Söderköping's finest SPA hotel. If you are eager to paddle, there is the opportunity to book a guided tour among Arkösund's small islands - an absolutely wonderful experience during these activity days.

Everything is pre-booked and luggage is transported between the accommodations. You have an emergency number that you can call if you have any questions along the way. You do not have to be an extremely trained person to handle this cycling package, but you should preferably have some experience of cycling a mountain bike for a few days in a row and a good basic condition.

Day 1 - Forest paths in magical Kolmården

You start in Norrköping and first cycle towards Sörsjön. This day you will get to experience magical kolmårdsskog where you will get a pulse, cycle on nice paths and see beautiful views up on mountain tops! The trails are both simple and suitable for beginners and tricky as the more experienced can handle. Sometimes you can only lead the bike if you feel insecure. You cycle mostly on paths in the forest mixed with gravel road and a shorter distance on asphalt.

When you cycle through the forest and enter Krokek, you check in at Kolmården's hostel where you will spend the night. After a full day on the bike, we recommend you to dine at Krokeks Pizzeria which is a stone's throw away.

Day 2 - With a view to the archipelago

STF Arkösund Sköldviks hostel

After breakfast, the day starts with forest in cross country terrain of the same character as the day before. The first 20 km are in forest and then the rest is gravel road and some asphalt. After the ferry that takes you over to Vikbolandet, you cycle on fine gravel roads to the Arkösund archipelago, which is today's destination. You will pass many cool sights and we recommend you stop at Mauritzberg Castle which is located on a cliff by Bråviken overlooking the water. Along the way, you can buy locally produced ice cream at Sänkdalen's ice cream and see cozy farms with animals and much more before you arrive at STF Arkösund's hostel where you stay overnight.

Arkösund is a real gem with a magical archipelago environment and good restaurants. This day there is also the opportunity to book a paddle with a guide via Arkö kayak.

Day 3 - History's wing beat at Stegeborg

About 80 km

The day starts with gravel roads and asphalt roads with a lot of lake views. You get to the ferry and take it across the lake to be met by Stegeborgs Slottsruin which stretches beautifully and stately along the water. Among other things, several Vasa kings have stayed here. Feel free to take a short break here before you step on to take in all the power of this place. Then you will cycle on incredibly cozy gravel roads and sometimes a little tricky paths. Once in Söderköping, you have an evening of luxury ahead of you. You check in at Söderköpings Brunn where a 3-course dinner awaits. You have free admission to the SPA department to take a well-deserved rest after all the miles on the bike.

Day 4 - Back to Norrköping

After a wonderful breakfast, cycling awaits on small, beautiful gravel roads back to Norrköping.
