Discover Tavelsjö - A Scenic Ride from the City of Birches

There's a mystical allure to the nature in Västerbotten, with its tranquil quiet, boundless forests, and expansive vistas. This cycling package lets you truly immerse yourself in this enchanting environment. Around Umeå, there are numerous pleasant cycling routes and paths waiting to be discovered. You'll take on 'The Classic' route, and a slightly longer ride to Tavelsjö, where the landscape is strikingly beautiful, hilly, and diverse.

The base for the package is the bike-friendly U&Me Hotel, in the middle of the city of birches in the cultural center Väven. With restaurants, bakery, art exhibitions and the proximity to nice tours along the Umeälven, this is a landmark in Umeå. You get a hearty picnic lunch from the Kulturbageriet and one of the days ends with a lovely dinner at Gotthard's pub.

If you don't have your own bike, you can opt to rent a high-quality hybrid bike (Specialized SIRRUS X 2.0). This versatile model functions excellently on both asphalt and gravel roads, making it the perfect bicycle to explore the surroundings of Umeå.

Day 1 - Arrival in Umeå and U&Me Hotel

When you arrive at U&Me Hotel in Umeå, you'll be welcomed with homemade coffee bread from the hotel's own bakery Kulturbageriet. Hop on and take a bike ride to the mighty river with the promenade. The range of culture is vast. You have the Opera, a nearby guitar museum and the cultural center Väven with a beautiful library, Women's History Museum and art exhibitions to choose from among many others.

End the day with a meal at one of Umeå's cozy restaurants. Check-in starts at 15:00.

Day 2 - Cycling the Classic in Umeå

With Umeå's most classic route as a base, you can make many pleasant detours. Check out the Umeå Energy Center in Klabböle. Turn into Baggböle Manor and take a look at Baggböleforsen and the artwork Buddhan. Roll down to the power plant dam and salmon staircase in Stornorrfors, when the water flow is high the rapids are a powerful experience. Glide past Umedalen for an art experience at Skulpturparken and check out the nice restaurant at Bistro le Garage.

In the evening, a two-course dinner awaits at Gotthards Krog before a restful sleep at the hotel.

Day 3 - The Tavelsjö Summit Tour

A stunning nature experience awaits the following day. After breakfast, set off on a slightly longer ride towards Tavelsjö.

The Tavelsjö area offers beautiful views, easy hiking adventures and nice coffee stops by the lake, which is said to hide a sea creature. On the way home you pass the inn in Brännland, stroll down the valley of the Ume River to look at mighty giant pots. In the evening, your nice room at the hotel awaits, and a dinner at one of the city's cozy restaurants.

Day 4 - Time for the Journey Home
