Bergslagen is known for mining, vast forests and the majestic Kilsbergen mountains. Today, the old transportation routes to mines and smelters are used by hikers and cyclists who want to experience the mythical nature. Many people describe the feeling of cycling in Bergslagen as stepping into another time, where the presence of nature and history feels close and tangible.
Often referred to as the 'blue mountains' because of their distinctive blue hue on the horizon, the Kilsbergen mountains rise proudly and provide a dramatic backdrop to the surrounding wilderness. The mountains and forests are steeped in a rich history of mining and iron production that has characterized the area since the Middle Ages. The forests were once vital to the mining industry, supplying coal to smelters and furnaces. There are many myths and stories from this time, and you may come across The ghost of the cabin, The black dog or The Forest Lady on your bike ride...
Your base for this cycling adventure is the comfortable Lannalodge. Here you stay in nice rooms and have a well-composed dinner in the evening. You cycle mostly on low-traffic gravel roads. Nice day trips by bike and a really exciting story await you here.

Once you have arrived at Lannalodge, a bike ride awaits you that takes you around on nice gravel roads among cabins and nice stops along the way. If you are hungry for coffee, you can start by stopping at Hallagårdens Café in Lekhyttan. Here you'll find homemade cakes, buns and other goodies. Don't miss stopping by Berga Gård and try their wonderful ice cream made on the farm. Here you will find an egg stall, ice cream making, farm shop and café. Note! Check the opening hours before cycling.
Back at Lannalodge, a good dinner awaits before it's time to sleep.
Day 2 - Monasteries and drumlins
After breakfast, it's off on a full-day tour. You cycle south and today you get to experience a little special nature. In this area there are so-called moraine hills formed by the melting of the last ice sheet and are recognizable as arched hills in the landscape. These moraine hills are called drumlins and give the landscape an undulating character.
Riseberga Abbey was a Cistercian nunnery near Fjugesta in Närke. The monastery was active at least between 1180 and 1534. The amphitheatre at Riseberga is the country's largest outdoor theatre. It can accommodate about 1,200 seated spectators. Back at Lannalodge, dinner and a comfortable bed await.
Day 3 - Kilsbergen and Vinteråsen
Today awaits wonderful cycling and the magical Kilsbergen. After breakfast you will head north. You will soon arrive at Garphyttan National Park. In spring, the deciduous forests are dense with bluebells, wood anemones, cowslips and lilies of the valley. The air is filled with scents. A little further along the road you can stop in Ånnaboda for coffee or lunch.
Vinteråsen Nature Reserve offers a varied landscape, with both dense broadleaf forests and open flowering fields. Back at Lannalodge, you end the day with a three-course dinner. Perhaps relax for a while in the hotel's sauna (entrance to the relaxation area can be booked as an option, but is not included in the package price).
Day 4 - Time to go home
We hope you have had really nice cycling days at Lannalodge in Bergslagen. After breakfast, it's off back to your hometown.
