The combination of physical activity, beautiful landscapes, and interesting history is a great recipe for those who want to recharge their batteries. The centerpiece of this cycling package is Wik Castle with origins from the 13th century. You will be staying at Lårstaviken's shore and cycling in the area known as Fjärdhundraland with all its wonderful farms and living history.
The environment is incredibly beautiful with apple orchards and beautiful hazel groves for you to enjoy. Fjärdhundraland is an old cultural landscape with living farms where you can buy locally produced food, have a cup of coffee or maybe buy art and crafts. Cycling, discovering, and being part of nature will fulfill your days around Wiks Castle and Fjärdhundraland. Indulge in great food and a castle that surrounds you with warmth, where the vegetables, honey, and apple juice you consume are produced on the farm, which is also KRAV-certified. Wiks Castle has an exciting history that you can learn more about on site, and many legends and stories revolve around the castle, which is known for its ghosts. In the morning, a certain room in one of the corner towers always shines.

Day 1 - Arrival and memorable dinner

When you arrive at the castle around 15:00, check in and enjoy comfortable hotel rooms decorated in Nordic style. After making yourself at home, there is time and opportunity for a nice bike ride from Wik Castle to Örsundsbro (26 km round trip). At Husby gård you cycle on private land, with the landowner's permission. Many thanks!
In Örsundsbro, there is Gamla Bion, a cinema museum that shows films on summer evenings, Salnecke Castle with the fine Salnecke Castle Café, and Kappen, a small museum that shows what a country store looked like in the past, on the site of Sweden's first cooperative shop. In the evening, a well-composed dinner is served in the castle's restaurant. Enjoy a good night's sleep before it is time for a cycling day on Fjärdhundraland's beautiful cycle paths.
Day 2 - Winding roads, farm shops and medieval churches

At Wik Castle you stay comfortably in beautiful hotel rooms located in their own buildings next to the castle. The deciduous forest with its fine paths and the proximity to nature together with the beach right next to your hotel room make this place unique in its kind.
On today's bike ride around Lake Alstasjön, wide views, flowering roadsides and churches from the Middle Ages await. Maybe you buy a piece of cheese or a herb when you stop at one of the farm shops. Stop by Salnecke Castle Café for a cup of coffee or something else delicious. Enjoy beautiful back roads and old country lanes during your bike ride, and be prepared to share the road with cars on some stretches. In the evening, a tasty dinner and overnight stay await you.
Day 3 - Time to go home
Breakfast
Start the day with a morning swim and a good breakfast. Pack your things in peace and quiet before it's time to check out of the room. Perhaps take a last walk around Wik's castle and look out over the water before returning home with replenished spiritual batteries.

The "package" states that there should be maps. They are certainly easy to get digitally, it is also poorly marked. The hotel quite ok plus with the nice environment. Incredibly nice all around. The menu was much more to be desired. If you want to have a nicer dinner, you have to visit another restaurant.

It is fantastically nice to cycle in Fjärdhundra country. However, we only got a bicycle map at Wik's castle, luckily we had printed out more suggestions for bike rides and maps from the web. The accommodation environment at Wik's castle gave a golden edge to the experience.

The bike maps leave much to be desired. We took a paper map on day two and cycled our own route. The disused train track you showed via GPX day one does not exist. You should send a pilot to test ride 😉. Feel free to give tips on nice lunch places when you write your description. I will still recommend this experience to my children but show my own bike path.

Beautiful nature, good food in a nice environment. Could have been a little better signposted but used map on phone so it went well. Happy to suggest more routes, was a bit boring to cycle the same way back. If you have time, check the Kattegat Trail and map (where they give suggestions for cafes, attractions etc). Can be an improvement but on the whole it worked well and was a nice bike path.
