The plant offers culture and history in an old ironworks environment

Avesta in Dalarna is home to the industrial museum and cultural arena Verket. As the name suggests, there has been an old ironworks in the magnificent building. Here is an exciting range of history, technology, art and culture for visitors. Anyone looking for an attraction during the bike trip has the perfect destination for the day. With the Sweden by Bikes Advantage Card, it becomes extra advantageous. We asked Sussie Carlzon, who is a communicator at Verket/Avesta Art, a little more about what happens next.

Verket/Avesta Art is a unique industrial museum in an old ironworks. What's going on with you right now, what's not to be missed?

We have a varied program during the late summer and the exhibition Avesta Art continues well into the autumn.

Can you describe the type of landscape you experience as a cyclist?

Avesta has several good options for mountain biking. You can choose between the well-signposted Besöksrundan and Forsturen, or explore Bruksleden, which runs through the municipality. Besöksrundan is an easy 25-kilometer bike ride that takes you past attractions such as Visentparken and Verket/Avesta Art. Forsturen is a 29-kilometer ride with gravel roads and less busy asphalt roads. Bruksleden offers a longer cycling experience through varied natural and cultural landscapes.

Do you have a favorite bike ride of your own?

My favorite route is to cycle MTB in the woods and fields outside Avesta. After an operated Achilles tendon, my balance has not really recovered yet, but I hope to resume cycling soon.

Those who want to visit Verket during their cycling trip can use Sweden by Bikes new Benefit Card. Benefit card holders receive a 50% discount on the entrance fee. Tickets are booked and purchased from the website the work.se
