The charming city of Nyköping has a well-preserved city center dating back to the Middle Ages. On a bike ride through the city you can experience both the castle and the speedway museum. Here you will find inviting small shops and cafes, as well as lovely views of the water.

Blommenhof Hotell is located just one kilometer from Nyköping Central Station and five kilometers from Skavsta Airport, with the E4 motorway nearby. Despite this, it is the tranquility that prevails here. The hotel is surrounded by a lovely mixed forest and the Näckrosleden trail passes a bit away. The atmosphere is relaxed and you sleep well in comfortable rooms of a high standard. Borrow a bike and go on a bike ride to discover Nyköping's favorite places.

The package is not suitable for families with children. You share the road with cars, which requires normal attention.

Day 1 - Bicycle tour through the history of Nyköping

Blommenhof Hotel, Nyköping
Picnic, afternoon coffee & dinner
10 km

Start by cycling into the center of Nyköping and start your tour at the café Tovastugorna next to Nyköpingshus. The medieval Renaissance castle is best known for its guest banquet in 1317, when King Birger Magnusson invited his brothers the dukes Valdemar and Erik for Christmas celebrations. After the meal, he let them imprison them in revenge for the so-called Håta game when they in turn kept Birger prisoner for two years. The dukes were thrown into the Nuclear Tower's round, still preserved, lower cavity where they both died, according to tradition in a painful famine.

Continue your trip along the river and you will pass NK-Villan Kulturhus with various exhibitions and the Brewery on Behmbrogatan with artisans and artists. Take a look at the beautiful Behm bridge over Nyköping River before turning down towards the Old Monastery and All Saints Church dating back to the 13th century. Prost Pihls farm is a well-preserved 18th-century farm where you can spend the summer in the beautiful garden. Honor our former Foreign Minister Anna Lindh with a visit to her memorial site, before coming to Östra main street with its many small shops with secondhand and furnishings, cafes and restaurants. For the shopping stove, a detour is also recommended to Hellmanska farm on Västra Trädgårdsgatan, the farm houses a shop with focus on interior design and bakery and café where you eat organic and nutritious. Join the tour again and you will soon pass some parks, where you can show up the picnic you brought with you from the hotel and let yourself taste a good baguette. Down in the harbor, it is full speed in the summer - grab an ice cream and scout the boat life from a bench on the dock.

When you step back to Blommenhof, freshly brewed afternoon coffee awaits and maybe a game of boules in the garden. Change into a bathrobe and paw down to the relaxation area for a swim in the pool. Then a festive three-course dinner awaits.

Great trip, we had our own bikes with us. But calling it a cycling trip feels a bit unjustified. The organizer had no ready-made maps or tours to show. We were allowed to cycle as we wanted, it turned out well, but we managed the tours all by ourselves (yes, we have ordered and received a cycling map of Östergötland/Sörmland, but it was nothing further, blah, you can't see the length of the tours, that map was in the mailbox when we got home).

3.2

Hotel clean and tidy. Very nice room. Unfortunately close to highway, constant noise, nothing we knew about. We had emailed and they responded to what time we wanted to have the three-course dinner that was included in the package, but this had not arrived, it turned out. Nor did we indicate in the same email when we wanted the picnic that was also included. It seemed to come as a surprise to them. We think the three-course dinner was very good, but the breakfast was not as expected, more on the level of hostels or low-class hotels; burnt bacon bits, factory-made pancakes in a 4-star hotel? We stayed two nights, got no bedding and cleaning of the room after the first night, asked if they forgot it, got a vague answer that it was "probably" not so now, I had to clarify, do you mean because of covid? This with no cleaning I think should have been informed about when booking / checking in. Likewise, at the 4 star hotel we lacked fruit in bowls, but maybe that was also a covid measure? In that case, information. We received fruit in the room upon arrival. But it was not open to take. About the cycling. We found the referred map app inadequate, took out own routes via google map. Cycling along the so-called excursion road, between Nyköping and Trosa felt risky, heavy traffic on 80-road, no roadside at all! When we then drove along that road, we only saw the occasional elite cyclist, no summer vacationers. The bike path ended in Sjösa. We returned to Nyköping and found our own alternatives, took the car to other starting points for more favorable cycling. It was very nice, but for this, as I said, both own initiatives were required in terms of where to cycle and to get there also by car. Nyköping, by the way, very nice vacation town. All in all, we put ourselves in the middle in terms of grades.

Hello Eva,

How nice that you chose to visit us, and thank you for your detailed feedback! We have recently started working with bicycle packages and are trying to work out the best way of working and the material, and your comments are very helpful. It is true that we have many adaptations to Covid-19 right now, and I regret that the information did not reach you. It also sounds like we need to update the information about the bike path. I'm glad to hear you made the most of your stay, and I hope you had a wonderful holiday. I wish you a warm welcome back to us!

Sincerely,

Malin, Blommenhof Hotel

Nice accommodation with good food and good service. We typically had summer weather during the bike ride and had time for some shopping when the downpour came.

It would have been good if there was a note on what kind of road to cycle on. We would not have chosen the road with two children if we had known in advance that it was a country road at 70-80 km/h.

Everything was great except we lacked a bike map. Difficult to find good bike paths outside the center.

We had a great weekend with good service and very friendly service. But I would have liked a bike map. It was obviously over and it would have been fun and a little easier to see the different bike options.
