Stockholm's archipelago is unique and known far beyond the country's borders. The nature is varied and you will experience both animal life and beautiful views in the sea belt. This package takes you to fantastic islands in the southern part of the archipelago: Utö and Ornö. Here nature is untouched and you will find both people's life and stillness. Dalarö is a typical archipelago village with picturesque wooden houses and beautiful views. It is about fairly easy cycling routes, so you can enjoy the view without any problems. In addition, you get the opportunity for nice bike rides in the leafy parts of Stockholm.
You will spend the first and last nights in Stockholm. With accommodation in Stockholm, the trip lasts a total of 6 days (5 nights). It is easy to add extra nights in Stockholm (and also remove overnight stays in Stockholm if desired). When you book the last night in Stockholm, a rental bike and map to the National City Park are included for a self-guided bike tour. You will stay at selected hotels and inns of a high standard with private bathroom/toilet.
Luggage transport:
Day 2: Stockholm → Smådalarö
Day 3: Smådalarö → Utö
Day 3: Utø harbor → accommodation
Day 5: Accommodation → Utö harbor
Please note that on day 5, your bags will travel with you on the boat. You are responsible for taking them on and off the boat at the quay, but otherwise transport between accommodations will be arranged.
The bike package is ideal for families. For children over 130 cm tall, a 24-inch bike is perfect. For younger children, there is a tag-along bike available for hire. It attaches easily behind an adult bike, allowing the child to pedal at their own pace while still riding safely and comfortably throughout the trip.

Day 1 - Explore Stockholm, the capital of Sweden
Hotel Rex / Hotel Hellstens Malmgård, Stockholm
No
No cycling
You start your adventure in Stockholm and have the opportunity to explore the capital, which is sometimes called "Northern Venice". It is undoubtedly a unique and beautiful city all year round, not only because of its location on 14 islands surrounded by water, but also based on the city's combination of nature, colorful architecture and a long history.
You never have to go far to estimate the proximity to the Baltic Sea. Stroll through the Old Town from the 13th century and feel the medieval atmosphere as you walk on cobblestones through the alleys past narrow, colorful houses of yesteryear. There is plenty to see in Stockholm, and you are sure to find something interesting within walking distance of your hotel.
Day 2 - Stockholm-Tyresö castle-Tyresta national park-Dalarö-Smådalarö
Smådalarö Gård, Dalarö
Breakfast
about 38 km
In the morning you will be transported from your accommodation in Stockholm to Tyresö Castle where the bike tour begins. It is an impressive palace dating back to the 17th century and beautiful English gardens by the water. Take a stroll through the gardens or over to the nearby small islands with wonderful views of the sea and forests. You start your bike ride along quiet country roads the short way to Tyresta National Park. It is a protected area of about 5000 hectares where there are trees more than 400 years old, glistening forest lakes and a variety of wildlife. Deer roam freely while the moose wait for their turn when dusk falls. Here you can take a break from cycling, enjoy the forest so close to a big city or take a refreshing dip in one of the lakes.
From Tyresta you continue cycling past fields and forests until you reach the idyllic village of Dalarö. It will be your first experience of the Stockholm archipelago. Dalarö is an old customs station that became a popular holiday resort during the latter part of the 19th century with its picturesque location and charming house. Explore the narrow streets with colorful wooden houses, sunbathe on the white beaches of the Swiss Valley or visit the beautiful 15th century church. You then continue by bicycle to Smådalarö Gård where your room waits for the night.
Day 3 - Smådalarö-Dalarö-Ornö-Utö
Utö Inn, Utö
Breakfast and coffee/cake
approx. 30 km (boat trip Dalarö-Ornö-Utö)
In the morning you cycle the short distance to Dalarö and can explore the village in peace and quiet. The view of the archipelago from the lookout point is stunning. You can have a nice lunch at the local bakery. Then take a boat out among the thousands of islands that make up the southern part of the Stockholm archipelago. The archipelago extends deep into the Baltic Sea and was formed during the last ice age.
Your first stop takes you to the beautiful island of Ornö. Ornö is the largest island in the southern archipelago, 14 kilometers long and 6 kilometers wide. The place has traditionally been less exploited by tourism than the neighboring islands. There is a vibrant coastal community and you can visit the four corners of the island by bike and enjoy its unique nature. At Måre Äng there is both woodland and open landscape with opportunities to swim from the smooth rocks. The wooden church from 1885 is a classic landmark. Take a walk up to Ornö's lookout point on Telegrafberget, the highest point in the southern archipelago. After a stop at the local Ornö Museum to learn about local life on Ornö over a cup of coffee, take the early evening boat from Ornö to the holiday island of Utö where you will spend the night at Utö Värdshus.
Day 4 - Hike, cycle and swim on Utö
Utö Inn, Utö
Breakfast
about 25 km
today you can discover Utö and the unique archipelago landscape. Cycle along the island, cross the bridge to little Ålö where you can be for yourself on a white sandy beach. There is also a charming fish restaurant. You can also choose to go to Nåttarö where you can enjoy one of the archipelago's best sandy beaches and fantastic views.
Utö also offers a variety of other activities: from sea kayaking on calm water to hiking along the many trails through forests and open land. A real nature experience awaits with clear water, white sandy beaches and the fresh archipelago air.
In the morning you have the chance to visit the village and head up to the windmill built in 1791 to enjoy one of Utö's best views. You can also visit the mining museum and learn more about the interesting history of the old mining community.
You have time to explore Utö nature reserve by bike or on foot along a beautiful coastal path with wonderful sea views. You pass sandy beaches and smooth rocks perfect for sunbathing or enjoying a picnic lunch in the fresh sea air. You then board the boat and enjoy a boat ride that passes island after island back to the buzz of Stockholm. The boat trip Utö - Stockholm takes 4 hours.
Day 6 - Stockholm at Your Own Pace
Breakfast
about 20 km
On the last day of the trip you can choose to take a bike ride through Stockholm's unique Ekopark. It is the world's first national city park. It is 27 square kilometers in size and combines cultural heritage and nature. Here you can cycle through old forests, visit palaces and swim. Animals such as foxes, badgers, murders, mink and deer roam freely and here, in the middle of the city, there is the largest number of large oaks in northern Europe.
Your bicycle tour in the national city park includes the royal island of Djurgården where many of Stockholm's best museums are located, Rosendal's royal residence with lovely gardens and café plus the picturesque canal that runs through Djurgården. You can also admire the Kaknästornet with its 30 floors, but you have to do that from the ground because you can't go up anymore. Cycle north and you will arrive at Haga Park and Haga Castle. There the Crown Princess lives with family at the beautiful inlet of Brunnsviken. Ulriksdal Castle has a restaurant, relaxing gardens and lovely views.

Good bikes and directions. Also good with tips on sights and activities. A little difficult a short distance with coarse gravel, as we were afraid of a puncture. Carmen was generous and paid for extra expenses, as we missed a departure by boat and had to take a water taxi. The logistics worked to our satisfaction. We are very happy with the bike package.

Carmen is a fantastic organizer! The bike package is well thought out with lots of information about the route, the area and some hikes (which we have skipped). The accommodation is of a high standard. I have booked the trip spontaneously for myself and my 2 preschool children. Since we have mostly had picnics - and ice cream of course - I can not say much about the dining experience. We have cycled on our own bike - a tandem for 3. Carmen has assisted with help due to the length of the bike before and during the trip - thank you! The biggest cycling challenge is the first day: How wonderful to arrive at Dalarö's beach to swim and later in the day at the Spa hotel in Smådalarö! The remaining days we have adapted the trip a bit: less cycling and more swimming. It has been a wonderful summer holiday for the whole family in the beautiful Archipelago!

Very fast and good communication before, instructions in English detailed but we were a little careless with the reading and ended up a little wrong at some point. Carmen is very nice and service-oriented, we brought some unnecessary equipment that was included as a pump and hose repair kit. Highly recommend this tour but a bit tough slopes first day.
