Askersund is a charming small town beautifully situated at the northern tip of Lake Vättern. Here you will find a small-scale town center with wooden buildings, lively harbor districts and proximity to magnificent nature. For those traveling by bike, Askersund is a perfect starting point - both for longer rounds on gravel roads through forests and cultural landscapes, and for shorter trips along lakes and winding country roads.

The town is the hub for several day trips that take you to swimming spots, nature reserves, historic mining fields and farm shops. Many of the tours are on gravel roads with little traffic, and are ideal for gravel and mountain biking.

When you return to town, cozy cafes, restaurants and accommodation await where you can rest and replenish your energy for the next stage. In the harbor you will find ice cream kiosks, a promenade and nice bathing areas, and just a few minutes away, Tiveden National Park attracts with a wilderness feeling.

Getting Here

You can travel by Mälartåg to Hallsberg station, where you change to a bus to Askersund. You can take your bike on board if there is space.
