Ice cream break along the Göta Canal - a natural part of the bike trip
Your adventure begins in picturesque Söderköping - the town where cobbled streets, small shops and the Göta Canal meet in a charming mix of history and summer idyll. After checking in at Korskullens Camping, pick up your bike and set off on the day's tour. A hot tip is to cycle to Mem, the eastern outpost of the Göta Canal on the Baltic Sea, just 6 km away. Here you will find bathing facilities, a cozy café and a peaceful view of the water.
Back in Söderköping, you'll have time to stroll along the canal, have an ice cream at the legendary Smultronstället, and perhaps browse the town's unique little shops. In the evening, enjoy a three-course dinner at Håll Bar & Kök right on the water. A perfect start to a cycling day filled with flavors, nature and experiences.
Day 2 - Canal cycling, bike boat and café break
Korskullens Camping & Stugor, Söderköping
Breakfast
About 35 km
After breakfast, you set off on your second day of cycling. You cycle along the Göta Canal - this time towards Norsholm. The scenic bike ride is about 17 km one way and offers quiet landscapes, waterfront views and wonderful variety. An extra highlight is the journey across Lake Asplången, where you can take the bicycle boat that connects the route in a unique and memorable way.
In Norsholm, coffee or lunch awaits at the charming Kaptens Billes. When you return to Söderköping, there is still time to discover more - perhaps a guided evening tour through the city's exciting history or a quiet moment by the canal. The bike is returned no later than 18.00, and the evening ends at your own pace with good food at one of Söderköping's nice restaurants.
Day 3 - Goodbye Söderköping - for now

September 2025, Lena A.
The cycle boat across the lake, which was part of the cycle route, had stopped running for the season. It would have been good to know so that different plans could have been made. Because you recommend Norsholm as a place to eat and you could now only reach Norsholm via a long detour on a very busy road without a cycle path. The accommodation is nice and well organized but very much traffic just outside the camping cabin which disturbed sleep.
Reply from the operator
September is the end of the canal season and thus no boat and a little less movement along the canal, but it is usually a nice bike ride with autumn colors. The campsite is located in the middle of Söderköping, which has many advantages but of course it is not completely quiet. Hope you could still enjoy your cycling along the canal! Regards Lotta
