Day 1 - Motala, Borenshult & Berg locks
Your journey begins in Motala where you board M/S Kung Sverker at 10:30. The journey takes you through the Göta Canal towards Borensberg - one of the real highlights of the trip. You pass Baltzar von Platen's grave, Motala Verkstad and are locked through the impressive Borenshult lock staircase with its five locks. On board, a delicious lunch is served while the landscape slowly glides by.
In Borensberg, you get off the boat and pick up your bike at Kaffeteriet in Borensberg harbor. Then a beautiful bike ride along the canal towards Berg's locks awaits. On the way you pass Brunneby Musteri where you have a 10 % discount in the farm shop - feel free to try their appreciated cider.
You continue towards Ljungsbro where you check in at Ljungsbro Vandrarhem. From here you are close to the lock area in Berg with restaurants and cafés, or the opportunity to cook your own dinner. Don't miss a visit to the Cloetta factory shop for something really good.
Day 2 - Vreta kloster, Linköping & Norsholm
After breakfast, you continue south by bike, with the Göta Canal and Lake Roxen as companions. You pass Vreta Kloster with its beautiful medieval church and cycle on towards Linköping - a perfect place for a lunch stop.
The journey continues through open and peaceful plains to the small lock town of Norsholm. Here you check in at Kapten Billes Vandrarhem. In the evening, a two-course dinner awaits at restaurant Kapten Bille at 18.00.
Day 3 - Asplången, Brådtom & Söderköping
After breakfast, you cycle along the Göta Canal towards Söderköping. Today's tour offers varied cycling and a unique experience when you cross Asplången by bicycle boat - a ticket included in the package.
Along the way you will pass the picturesque lock environment of Brådtom lock, where a charming café invites you to take a break.
Once in Söderköping, check in at Korskullens Camping and Cottages, centrally located near the medieval city center. Before leaving the bike, a trip to Mem - the end point of the Göta Canal (about 6 km one way) is recommended.
Back in Söderköping, there is time to stroll among small shops and perhaps visit Smultronstället, known for its generous glass creations. The evening ends with a three-course dinner at Håll Bar & Kök by the canal.
Day 4 - Söderköping & return journey
After breakfast, it's time to say goodbye to Söderköping and end your cycling adventure along the Göta Canal. For the return journey, it is possible to travel smoothly with Östgötatrafiken back to Motala. It is also possible to combine with train if you wish.
We hope you take with you many great memories from days filled with cycling, nature and experiences along one of Sweden's most beautiful waterways. Maybe an ice cream at Smultronstället ends the trip.
