When cycling in the highlands of Småland, you encounter a wilderness-like nature. The climate is reminiscent of the southern Norrland hinterland. There are endless gravel roads, lined with stone walls and fences. It is also quite hilly. During the high season there are several small cafés where you can stop and have a coffee. Welcome to a real gravel mecca!

Your base for this cycling adventure is Wallby Säteri, which dates back to the 14th century. Here you live in red houses with white knots. A few hundred meters from Wallby Säteri, Skirösjön shines. There is a jetty and a small sandy beach. It's SPA, Wallby style.

Check in to your room and make yourself at home. Now awaits a completely magical gravel round straight into the Småland forest. Moderately hilly where your legs are put to the test. At Lake Höljen, the road crosses a spectacular watercourse and a few hills later you pass Nils Dacke's hiding place where you can take a short break. Then it is mostly downhill back to Skirö. A perfect afternoon bike ride. Then it's time for a well-composed farm dinner in the restaurant at Wallby Säteri.

Day 2 - Graveldreams through the forest

Wallby Säteri, Vetlanda
Breakfast and dinner
79 km, 995 altitude meters

After breakfast, a fantastic dirt road ride awaits. Lots of winding roads, just enough asphalt for recovery and one picturesque village after another. How about Ädelfors, Lammåsa, Söthult and Kråkshult?

Mining in Småland has a long history. Stop by Kleva mine, which is idyllically located in the middle of the forest. Copper ore was mined here in the past, and there are barbecue areas and a viewing platform. Don't forget to bring something to eat and drink during the tour. Maybe pre-order a picnic lunch? Cycling in the highlands is demanding. Back at Wallby, dinner and a comfortable bed await.

Day 3 - Gravel from Wallby to Katthult

Wallby Säteri, Vetlanda
Breakfast and dinner
133 km, 1767 meters of altitude

After breakfast, it's time for a real road trip. The destination is Astrid Lindgren's Katthult. Here you experience the environment from the films about Emil in Lönneberga. You cycle through vast forests, past lots of red cottages and beautiful lakes. The area is characterized by Astrid Lindgren's colorful stories. You will experience places that are well known to many - Mariannelund, Lönneberga, Bullerbyn (in Sevedstorp) and many more.

Dinner and overnight stay at Wallby Säteri. Maybe a relaxing sauna before it's time to sleep.
