Vattenriket is a biosphere reserve in Kristianstad characterized by a rich nature with water, wetlands and meadows along the river Helgeån.
The area is part of UNESCO's global network of biosphere reserves and combines nature, urban life, research and education. There is a visitor centre here, Naturum Vattenriket, which acts as a hub for visitors who want to learn more about the area. The cycle tour follows the Sydostleden signs from Kristianstad southwards. You pass Hammarsjön, Ekenabben, Viby and Rinkaby down towards Åhus.
From Åhus and southwards, there are plenty of opportunities for refreshing baths as the sea is never far away. Along the cycle path there are about 20 bathing places and it is possible to take the dog to some.
