Örebro
Historical sights and scenic trails through plains, lakes and wilderness.
The cycling city of Örebro is a great starting point for cycling, whether you prefer road biking, mountain biking or a calmer ride on a regular bike. Here it is easy to combine the city's culture and attractions with nature experiences on the bike. You can quickly reach the Hjälmar landscapes, the wilderness of Kilsbergen or the small roads of Närkeslätten with farm shops and open fields.
Don't miss the city's own icons such as Örebro Castle, Svampen and Wadköping - or do as the locals do and cycle to Karlslund, Lindbacka Mill or Oset Nature Reserve. A classic bike tour is the Hemfjärden round trip, where a shrimp sandwich at Ässundet is almost obligatory, as is the short ferry ride across the strait.
For mountain bikers, there's everything from technical trails in Markaskogen to longer tours from Ånnaboda. Road cyclists can choose from seven routes, from the classic Col du Ånnaboda (58 km) to the entire Hjälmaren Rundt (149 km). For those who want to discover more on a day trip, there is Hemfjärden around, Katrinelundsturen or Trästadsturen to Nora - always with plenty of chances for coffee, swimming and beautiful views along the way.
