Hemfjärden round is an appreciated and family-friendly bike ride that has become a real classic. The tour runs on fine cycle paths between Örebro and Glanshammar and offers both nature, culture and experiences along the way.
The tour starts and ends at Örebro lock, then you follow the river out towards the nature reserve Oset and Rynningeviken, a paradise for birds and nature lovers. About halfway, a break awaits at Norra Ässundet, where you will find both a summer café and a swimming area.
The highlight of the tour is the crossing at Ässundet with the bicycle ferry Åbäket - a charming experience that makes the tour unique. For the sake of simplicity, it is recommended to cycle north from Örebro, as the signs are easiest to follow in that direction.

The bike tour starts here. The lock and canal were inaugurated in 1888 when Hjälmaren was lowered and Örebro got port traffic with large ships. Next to it stands the old lock keeper's house.
A green walking area that links Oset and Rynningeviken. Here you will find Naturens Hus with a café, food and information about nature.
Nature reserve and bird paradise at Hemfjärden. Rest areas, barbecue areas and bird towers make this an ideal place to take a break.
Private manor with medieval roots. Highland Cattle are bred here, and the avenue down to the farm is worth cycling through.
One of the county's most beautiful rune stones. A short detour of 2 km from the trail.
This beautiful rest area is also worth a detour. There are barbecue areas, shelters and a nice view of Hemfjärden. The cabin can be rented through Örebro municipality.
A mighty drift block left behind by the ice sheet. There were already settlements here during the Iron Age.
Parish center dating back to the Middle Ages. Here you will find the church with paintings and sculptures as well as a shop and restaurant.
A beautiful manor setting with a hillside landscape. Adjacent is a large Iron Age burial ground with around 180 graves.
Here you take the Åbäket ferry across the strait - the highlight of the trail. In summer there is a café, swimming and canoe hire.
Cycle along the gravel road on the island - but without stopping, as agreed with the landowner.
A swimming area with a jetty, changing rooms and an outdoor gym. Perfect for a dip on hot days.
Nature reserve with picnic area, barbecue area and jetty. Nature is at its best here in the evening sun.

A beautiful passage along pastures and avenues. The farm has a main stone building from the 17th century.
End the tour in the bird paradise Oset. There are picnic areas, trails, viewpoints and the little Erik Rosenberg cabin.
This bike tour is very easy to cycle and requires no special prior knowledge. A family-friendly tour that mostly goes on a nice bike path.
