Start your day in Vänersborg, ”Little Paris”, with a morning walk along the harbor canal or a visit to Vänersborg Museum, Sweden's oldest preserved museum environment. The city offers cozy cafes, restaurants and small shops. There is even the country's oldest cheese shop.
As you cycle west over Dalbo Bridge, you get a fantastic view of Lake Vänern, before the trail takes you on to the nature and tranquillity outside the city. After just a few kilometers, you'll pass the road to Ursands Resort & Camping, a perfect first stop with a beach, pool and restaurant. From here you follow quiet roads towards Frändefors, where you cross the E45 and continue through open landscapes towards Timmervik and Sikhall. At Sikhall harbor you can take a break, smell the lake and maybe enjoy an ice cream or coffee at the campsite next door.
The trail continues through the Dalsland agricultural landscape, past Gestad church and small villages such as Grindstad and Bodane. Soon you reach Dalbergså, a charming place with a country store, guest harbor and camping. Perfect for a night by the water. Here you can walk along the promenade and discover the rock carvings hiding among the rocks at the edge of Lake Vänern.
