You start your journey at Stora torget in Karlstad and cycle out through the heart of the city towards Klarälven. Right at the beginning you pass Sandgrund with Lars Lerin's famous watercolors, and Värmlands museum with its exciting exhibitions.

Soon you leave the city's pulse and follow the river south, past Kroppkärrssjön, a nice place for a swim, before continuing towards Välsviken. The road continues through lush forests to Alsters manor, where Gustaf Fröding once grew up. Here you can sit down for a coffee with a view of Lake Vänern or take a short walk in the scenic surroundings.

As you continue towards Kristinehamn, the landscape opens up and Vänern shows itself from time to time between the fields. Along the route there are several nice stops. Perhaps a break at the charming Café Gamla Skolan or a detour to Vilda Parken for the whole family? You'll also pass the culturally historic Ölme church and small communities where time seems to pass a little slower. In Kristinehamn, the expanse of Lake Vänern spreads out in front of you.
