In Fröskog, one of Dalsland's most beloved churches awaits. The chip-covered wooden church from the 18th century, filled with colorful peasant baroque and open in summer with an audio guide. Here you can spend the night at Villa Weidling or Nordic Refuge, two personal accommodations that welcome cyclists with warmth.
A few minutes' cycling away awaits Fengersfors Mill, a place where history and creativity meet. The old paper mill has been transformed into a vibrant center for arts, crafts and small-scale entrepreneurship. It is home to the artist cooperative Not Quite, which runs exhibitions, a bakery and a café. The aroma of the stone oven bakery Brukets Godaste spreads over the area, and in late summer the food festival Glupsk på Dalsland attracts visitors from all over the country. Don't miss out on strolling around the studios, taking a dip at the swimming area in the middle of the village or shopping in the small country store.
The trail then winds through a quiet Dalsland landscape, passing farms and lakes on the way to Åmål. Just before the town is Tollebols kvarn, an idyllic place with a summer café, animals and a mill that still spins. Here you can enjoy freshly baked waffles before cycling into Åmål, a town that combines small-town charm with a lively summer pulse. Enjoy boating in the harbor, dinner at Åmåls Stadshotell, or an evening by the water at Örnäs Camping. If you're lucky, your trip will take place during Åmål's Blues Fest, when the whole town is filled with music, joy and community. End the day with a walk up Kungsberget, where Vänern spreads out below.
