This cycling route has undergone a special certification by the Swedish Transport Agency, which certifies that the path is of high quality, has clear signage and is safe for traffic. There is also a wide range of experiences and services along the trail.
Plan your ride
In Valje you cross the border between Blekinge and Skåne. Outside is Skåne's only archipelago and in Valje and Edenryd you can swim. Skräbeån is known for its whitefish and sea trout fishing and by the bridge you can see Nymölla mill which dates from the 15th century.
Take a day trip on the Banvallsleden and cycle on the old railway embankment between Sölvesborg and Olofström. Here you cycle past Ivösjön with the opportunity for a canoeing experience on the water. Smugglarrundan, a local bike trail in Bromölla municipality, is part of Sydostleden. If you join the Smugglarrundan to Bromölla, you can visit the fossil exhibition in Havsdrakarnas hus. Don't miss the artist-run cultural center Ifö Center, located in the old ceramic factory in the middle of Bromölla.
Arrive in cozy Kristianstad where parts of the city are below sea level and dikes and water pumps protect the city from flooding. On stilts in the middle of the water is Kristianstad's number one destination: Naturum Vattenriket, which has been designated a biosphere reserve by UNESCO. Here you can look for stingrays in the brook, watch fish in the aquarium, look for animals or enjoy the view from the panoramic window.
