This section of the Sweden Trail weaves together a beautiful tapestry of forests, lakes and historical sites. The journey takes us from Laggarberg, through the heart of Jämtland at Frösön, and finally to Valne.
Laggarberg, beautifully nestled in the forests of Norrland, offers a great introduction to the region's nature. From Laggarberg, the journey continues to Frösön, an island located in Lake Storsjön, in the heart of Jämtland. Frösön is not only known for its impressive views of Lake Storsjön, but also as a cultural center with a rich history. The old stone church and Frösö Runsten, which is the northernmost Viking Age rune stone discovered in Sweden, are two of the many historical sites to explore here.
Finally, Valne is a peaceful end to the stage, surrounded by the tranquillity of the deep forests. A place where time seems to stand still in a positive sense, perfect for reflection and recovery.
Parts of the Northern Sweden Trail run along high-speed roads, but traffic volumes are usually low.
