This section of the Sweden Trail, stretching from Åsele to Stalon via Vilhelmina, offers a journey through some of Norrland's most picturesque areas. Rich in culture, traditions and magnificent scenery, this is a route that gives a sense of the heart and soul of the region.

Vilhelmina (named after a queen) is a little gem along the way, with a charming church town and magnificent surroundings. Its history is closely linked to Sámi culture, and this heritage is reflected in both the landscape and the town's cultural institutions. Vilhelmina has a position as a central point in Lapland with both mountain and forest character. The end of the route is located near the mighty Ångerman River.

Parts of the Northern Sweden Trail run along high-speed roads, but traffic volumes are usually low.
