Varpan runt is an easy bike ride north of Falun that goes through the old mountain village around Lake Varpan. The tour takes about 1-2 hours at a leisurely pace and is suitable for both families and those who want to combine cycling with culture and swimming.
Along the trail, you’ll pass several swimming spots and sites with interesting cultural history. One of the stops is the village of Österå, which once had several copper smelters and is part of the Falun and Kopparbergslagen World Heritage Site. With its beautiful lakeside setting, Österå has been known as ”Falun’s Saint Tropez” since the early 1900s. A recommended stop in the summer for coffee and a swim is at Gullnäsgården.
