The Hylteleden trail starts and ends at Halmstad Castle. It is a round trip through Halland's hinterland and part of Småland. Here you follow the Nissan valley north to Hyltebruk, on towards Jälluntofta, then down towards Unnaryd, before the trail turns south along the Fylleån valley back to Halmstad via the scenic Simlångsdalen. For the last 30 kilometers, the trail mostly runs parallel to Banvallsleden.
From central Halmstad, the trail passes through Norre Katts park, Örjans vall football stadium and Slottsmöllan before reaching Åled and continuing into the beautiful Nissadalen valley. On the way you pass small communities, deep forests, pastures and several lake systems that give the cycling variety. As the trail approaches Småland, you are still in Halland County, but the nature takes on a more wooded character.
The final section via Simlångsdalen offers both history and nature experiences. There are opportunities for food, overnight stays and nice excursion destinations, which makes the valley a nice end point before you return to Halmstad. You can easily divide the trail into day-long stages with overnight stays along the way.
