Your journey starts in Arboga and quickly leads you into a peaceful landscape. Soon you reach Hjälmare Canal, one of Sweden's oldest canals, where you cycle along the water on scenic gravel roads and pass historic environments.

Along the way you pass Alberga, a good place for a break, before you have the opportunity to make a detour to Stora Sundby Castle. The fairytale castle with its many towers and medieval-inspired architecture is a popular destination with a castle café, farm shop and guided tours in summer. There are also lovely surroundings nearby for a break or a swim.

Towards the end of the day, you cycle through lush natural areas before rolling into Eskilstuna, where today's stage ends.

Hjälmarleden is under development. The municipalities are reviewing the route and preparing signage, and the route choices listed here are suggestions. Have you cycled the trail? Please share your tips and experiences here: https://ivlv.me/izy1F
