Väststanå castle outside Gränna is something very special. The castle was built in 1590 and the environments are very well preserved and the interiors untouched since the 1920s. Treat yourself to some relaxing days in beautiful surroundings with culinary dishes and good wine.
You can combine the castle environment with scenic cycling on the mythical Visingsö, which offers a variety of sights and places that brood on unique cultural treasures. Visingsö was once a political center, and here are a lot of stories about assassinations, prisoners of war and about when Sweden was ruled from here.
Fredrik von Otter is the ninth generation owner of the castle which has been owned by the family since 1785. Together with his wife Catharina von Otter he ensures that the guests of the castle have an experience to remember. The food is important and Fredrik has long experience in running hotels and has worked as a chef at Grythyttan's Inn, Christer's in New York and operated the Swedish Club's restaurant in Paris.
The castle has six double rooms. Two are suites with murals in the original half of the 19th century. The remaining four rooms are individually furnished. All rooms in the castle have wireless internet connection. TV is available in one of the castle's living rooms.
The annexe is located about 50 meters from the castle staircase and is the farm's most modern building. The house was built as a tenancy in the middle of the 19th century and was completely renovated in 2004. All rooms in the Annex are in English color scale, have TV and bathroom with shower and toilet.
