A longer day ride for those who want a full cycling day. It suits you who have cycled a little before. You ride mostly on asphalt.
This scenic route takes you from Umeå to Tavelsjö on quiet paved roads through a varied landscape of forests, open fields, and sparkling lakes. The tour is perfect for those who want to enjoy comfortable road cycling while experiencing some of the Umeå region’s finest destinations.
Once you arrive in Tavelsjö, you’ll find a charming town with cozy cafes and restaurants by the lake. You might even hear the story of the Tavelsjö Monster, the legendary creature that, according to legend, lurks in the depths of the lake.
On the way back, you’ll pass through Brännland, where Brännlands Wärdshus is a great place to stop for lunch or a coffee break. If you’d like to take a short detour, you can also walk down into the Ume River valley and explore the impressive giant’s kettles—fascinating traces from the last ice age.

Umedalen Sculpture Park is one of Europe's leading sculpture parks and is located in the Umedalen area, five kilometers from downtown Umeå.
Piparböle is a nature reserve. The area is known for its pristine boulder ridge and its scenic location on Lake Piparböle, which features a popular and cozy swimming spot.
The swimming area at Hissjön features a sandy beach and a café (during the summer).
Tavelsjö Wärdshus offers delicious, well-prepared food made from locally produced, locally grown, and organic ingredients whenever possible. For those with a sweet tooth, there are also delicious pastries to enjoy with a cup of coffee or tea.
Sundlingska Gården is located at the foot of Tavelsjöberget. Here you can enjoy the farm’s own produce, such as vegetables, wood-fired pizza, and fika, or have a cappuccino made with freshly ground beans.
