The Sörsjörundan is one of Umeå’s most popular bike tours and offers a wonderful combination of nature, culture, and local culinary experiences. Along quiet roads, you’ll follow the Ume River valley through a varied landscape of forests, farmland, and rushing water.

The tour offers several pleasant stops along the way. Take a break for coffee and pastries or lunch at Brännlands Wärdshus or Umeå Energicentrum in Klabböle. Take a detour to Baggböle Herrgård and Baggböleforsen, or visit Stornorrfors, where the mighty hydroelectric dam and salmon ladder bear witness to the river’s power. Stop by Umedalen Sculpture Park and end the day with a delicious meal at one of the city’s restaurants.

    The inn is beautifully situated along the Ume River and dates back to the 17th century. Here you can enjoy good food, homemade pastries, and a relaxing break in the lush surroundings before continuing your bike ride.

    A peaceful and scenic stop along the Ume River, perfect for a break during your bike ride. Here you’ll find a lovely sandy beach, grassy areas for picnics, and plenty of space to relax by the water.

    Klabböle Power Plant

    One of Sweden’s best-preserved older hydroelectric power plants and a popular tourist destination along the Ume River. The power plant was built in the early 1900s and supplied Umeå with electricity for many years. Today, it serves as a living industrial heritage site where you can experience the historic setting, see the old turbines, and learn more about the importance of hydropower for the region’s development.     At the top of Hässningberget, you’ll find a simple but welcome rest area with a bench and sweeping views of the surrounding landscape. Here, you can sit down for a while, enjoy the peace and quiet, and take a well-deserved break from cycling.
