Rimforsa is located almost in the middle of fertile Östergötland, right next to the Kinda canal and the lake Åsunden. The landscape is characterized by agriculture, forests and large lakes. If you are interested in nature experiences, we recommend a trip to the nature reserve Trollegater, which is a few kilometers away. There is one of the country's largest underground caves with a system of walkways that stretches almost a hundred meters. The legend says that there used to be trolls in the great cave room in the past. The cave system probably originated when the inland ice retreated about 11,000 years ago. Keep in mind that it can be good to wear a bicycle helmet inside the caves.
Rimforsa Strand offers a nice range of activities according to interest and taste. You can take a leisurely stroll along the water, swim in the sauna, look at art, enjoy the garden, listen to music or maybe take a rowing trip in the summer evening. The restaurant, which is open every day in the summer, serves locally sourced ingredients. In summer, delicious barbecue buffets with both meat and vegetarian options are organized.
A more nerve-wracking circumstance is that the last criminal executed in Sweden worked as a cellar master at the tourist hotel in Rimforsa. His name was Alfred Ander and received his sentence in 1910. The thing is that the old tourist hotel burned down that year and the current building was erected in 1911.
The rooms at Rimforsa Strand are comfortable and offer a nice view of the Åsunden water. There are 41 rooms at the hotel and each has its own character. All are equipped with wireless broadband, wooden floors, shower and WC. The hotel's philosophy is that you should spend time together, so when you want to watch TV you do it with other guests in the TV room. The dog or cat is also welcome to accompany Rimforsa Strand for extra charges (pre-booked) and these rooms are located in a separate building with beautiful views of Lake Åsunden or the fruit cellar.
