Rimforsa Strand

Rimforsa is located almost in the heart of the fertile Östergötland region, right next to the Kinda Canal and Lake Åsunden. The landscape is characterized by farmland, forests, and large lakes. Here you’ll find the historic hotel and conference center Rimforsa Strand – the perfect place for relaxation, a variety of activities, and delicious meals after a day of cycling. 

If you are interested in nature experiences, we recommend a trip to the nature reserve Trollegater, which is a few kilometers away. There is one of the country's largest underground caves with a system of walkways that stretches almost a hundred meters. The legend says that there used to be trolls in the great cave room in the past. The cave system probably originated when the inland ice retreated about 11,000 years ago. Keep in mind that it can be good to wear a bicycle helmet inside the caves.

Rimforsa Strand offers a delightful range of activities to suit every interest and taste. You can take a leisurely stroll along the water, enjoy the sauna, view art, relax in the garden, listen to music, or perhaps go for a row on a summer evening. The restaurant, which is open every day during the summer, serves dishes made with plenty of locally sourced ingredients. In the summer, they host delicious barbecue buffets featuring both meat and vegetarian options.

A more nerve-wracking circumstance is that the last criminal executed in Sweden worked as a cellar master at the tourist hotel in Rimforsa. His name was Alfred Ander and received his sentence in 1910. The thing is that the old tourist hotel burned down that year and the current building was erected in 1911.

The rooms at Rimforsa Strand are comfortable and offer a beautiful view of Lake Åsunden. The hotel has 41 rooms, each with its own unique character. All are equipped with wireless broadband, hardwood floors, a shower, and a toilet. The hotel’s philosophy is all about socializing, so when you want to watch TV, you do so together with other guests in the TV lounge. Even your dog or cat is welcome to come along to Rimforsa Strand for an additional fee (must be booked in advance); these rooms are located in a separate building with a beautiful view of Lake Åsunden or the fruit cellar.
