We share concrete examples, practical advice, and tools that participants can apply directly in their own businesses.

Each training session lasts about an hour, including time for questions and discussion.

Session 1: Developing an Attractive Cycling Destination (1 hour)

We take the perspective of the cycling tourist and examine which features contribute to an attractive cycling destination. Drawing on our experiences and best practices, we demonstrate how public sector entities and local businesses can work together to build a competitive offering. We discuss which features already exist, what can be developed, and how the work can be carried out in stages.

We’re also looking at how responsibility can be shared between the destination and businesses, how to set the right expectations for visitors, and how service points can become key hubs that create both added value and business opportunities.

Session 2: Bicycle-Friendly Design in Practice (1 hour)

What does it really mean to be bike-friendly, and which initiatives make the biggest difference for both guests and businesses? We’ll share our experiences of what bike tourists are looking for and which solutions work in practice. Using our development framework Good/Better/Best We show how companies can gradually develop their offerings, create a clear customer promise, and meet the needs of cycling tourists.

We also explore different target groups within cycling tourism and how offerings, services, and levels of ambition can be tailored to create greater value for both the guest and the business.

Session 3: Generating Business All Year Round (1 hr)

How can cycling tourism help extend the season and create more business opportunities? We’ll show how businesses can develop offerings that attract visitors in the spring, fall, and winter—times of year when many international cycling tourists enjoy traveling. By tailoring their offerings to the season and target audience, businesses can create a more attractive package and help ensure more consistent occupancy throughout the year.

We’ll go over how to work with core offerings, add-ons, and packaging to create flexible products that work throughout different parts of the season. The training provides inspiration and concrete examples of how existing resources can be used to create new business opportunities and strengthen the destination’s appeal year-round.

Client:

Destinations, municipalities, and destination organizations that want to develop a stronger and more cohesive offering for cycling tourists by enhancing the knowledge and competitiveness of local businesses.

Target group:

This training program is aimed at businesses that want to develop products and services for cycling tourists, such as lodging providers, restaurants, cafes, tourist attractions, activity providers, and other businesses in the tourism industry.

Scope and Price:

We recommend that the training be conducted as a series of three sessions to provide companies with a common knowledge base and a clear development plan.
