Many regional and commuter trains allow bikes on board, often at no extra cost, while long-distance trains have stricter rules and require a folded or dismantled bike in a bag. The number of bicycle spaces is limited and subject to availability, so choose off-peak times and plan your journey in advance. Pre-booking is required on some routes. Here is a summary that we hope will help you in your planning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Quick guide<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Regional trains: <\/strong>Often yes, subject to availability. Usually free of charge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>M\u00e4lart\u00e5g: <\/strong>6 bicycle spaces per double-decker train.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u00d6resund trains:<\/strong> Max 6 bikes per trolley, placed in trolley with bike symbol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>On-board trains:<\/strong> Maximum 6 bikes per train set.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Kr\u00f6sa trains: <\/strong>Maximum 9 bikes per train set, not allowed on certain routes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Trains in Bergslagen: <\/strong>Max 6 bikes in double-decker buses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Inlandsbanan\/T\u00e5gab: <\/strong>Kristinehamn-Mora: subject to availability (SEK 60). Mora-G\u00e4llivare: advance booking (SEK 100).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>V\u00e4stt\u00e5g\/V\u00e4sttrafik:<\/strong> Bicycle in marked trolley, maximum dimensions 190\u00d770 cm, strapped in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>X-traffic:<\/strong> One bicycle per person (max 25 kg), fee SEK 30, subject to availability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">By region<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sk\u00e5ne<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>On-board trains<\/strong>: 6 bicycles per train set (often double coupled).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>\u00d6resund trains<\/strong>: 6 bicycles per train set. Runs to Gothenburg, Kalmar and Karlskrona, among others.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No cost within Sweden (but a ticket is required to Copenhagen).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tip: Avoid rush hour on Malm\u00f6-Helsingborg and Malm\u00f6-Ystad. Easier to get a seat Malm\u00f6-Trelleborg, Malm\u00f6-H\u00f6\u00f6r and via Teckomatorp.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sm\u00e5land<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The Kr\u00f6sa trains<\/strong>: Free bike on almost all routes. Not allowed Alings\u00e5s-Gothenburg in rush hour.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Regional West trains<\/strong>: 2 bikes\/departure.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Kinnekullet\u00e5get (G\u00f6teborg-Mariestad)<\/strong>: 2 bicycles, possibly an extra one with its own straps.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Non-bicycle Bor\u00e5s-V\u00e4rnamo.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There is no charge.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ostergotland<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>\u00d6stg\u00f6tapendeln<\/strong>6 bikes per train. Not allowed during V\u00e4tternrundan.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Kr\u00f6sat\u00e5g from Link\u00f6ping<\/strong>: No bikes towards V\u00e4stervik, Vimmerby and Kalmar.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Varmland<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>V\u00e4rmlandstrafiken trains<\/strong>: Max 2 bikes\/train. Routes Karlstad-Torsby, Karlstad-Charlottenberg, Karlstad-Kristinehamn\/Degerfors\/\u00d6rebro.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Traffic less frequent in the north, more frequent around Karlstad.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>T\u00e5gab<\/strong>: 2 bicycles, loaded in wagon no 13. Sometimes there is no bicycle space at all. Packing straps are recommended.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Inlandsbanan<\/strong>: Bicycles allowed only in summer, must be pre-booked. 1 departure\/day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>M\u00e4lardalen &amp; Uppland<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>M\u00e4lart\u00e5g<\/strong>: 2-6 bicycles in Flexvagn.
