Sundsvall
Here you will find the sea, river valleys with magnificent views and large deep coniferous forests.
In the scenic landscape of Medelpad there is the sea, river valleys with magnificent views and large deep coniferous forests. Sundsvall has a long and exciting history and was founded as early as 1621. A hundred years later, the Russians looted and burned the town after the Battle of Selånger. The city has burned down twice since then – in 1803 and 1888. In an attempt to stop these devastating fires, it was decided that only stone houses could be built in the center. Sundsvall's city center is therefore called Stenstan and is today a fine tourist attraction.
The city is located by the sea in a valley between the two mountains Södra and Norra Stadsberget with large green areas in the direct vicinity of the city. Along the coast there are genuine fishing villages, for example Lörudden and Skatan in Njurunda. In Njurunda you can also visit Galtström, an ironworks dating back to the 17th century. On Alnön you will find the popular beach Tranviken and right next to the fishing village Spikarna with picturesque boathouses, fishing cabins, a chapel and a cafe. Alnö is a popular destination for many cyclists.
Here you will soon find more information and more cycle packages, cycle-friendly accommodation and cycle tours in the local area. Watch out!
