This 6-day bicycle tour runs through culturally rich coastal and archipelago landscapes, glittering seas, meandering small roads and ends in charming Norrtälje. Roslagen is the northern part of the Stockholm archipelago. Here you will find picturesque small towns with lots of history, culture and a shimmering archipelago with unspoilt nature.

In this bike package you cycle on your own and orient yourself with a bicycle map. You go from central Stockholm by boat to Ljusterö, Östanå jetty. This is where the cycle tour starts, which winds through Bergshamra, Kapellskär, Norrtälje to Söderbykarl. Overnight stay at hospitable Bed & Breakfast and hostel with personal feeling.

Boat transport Stockholm-Östanå (Ljusterö) / Arholma-Stockholm is not included in the price. You can find times and prices at Waxholmsbolaget 

Day 1:

Stockholm - Östanå - Roslagskulla - Riala - Bergshamra

You can easily get from Stockholm, Strömkajen by Waxholmsbåt to Östanå (Ljusterö). Any rental bicycles are picked up / left in central Stockholm, and on the first day you cycle Östanå-Roslagskulla-Riala-Bergshamra starting from Östanå jetty.

Feel free to take a detour to Wira Bruk, which was one of the country's most important weapons smiths during the Great Power era. The environment is very beautiful, and do not miss visiting the artisan shop. You can also take a break in the old Parliament House.

Day 2:

Bergshamra - Chapel cutter

You start the day with a cozy breakfast, and then the cycle ride continues. This day you cycle to Marholmen, an island in Roslagen's archipelago with a bridge connection to the mainland. Then you continue to Spillersboda, which is a genuine fishing community and on towards Åkerö to finally reach Kapellskär, in the border between sea and land.

Here is the nature reserve Riddersholm, and although it is located on the mainland, the entire archipelago nature and the sea-close environment are here. Overnight stay in Kapellskär (double room, shared shower / WC).

Day 3:

Kapellskär - Gräddö - Norrtälje

You start the day with breakfast and then cycle on towards Gräddö, which is almost at the far end of Rådmansö with an open bay facing the sea of Åland. Here is Kvarnudden, which during the Second World War was home to the Stockholm cadre. Here you will find a café with a beautiful view of the Norrtalje bay.

The cycle tour on the peninsula Rådmansö is packed with attractions, nice swimming areas and fantastic nature. The tour continues from Gräddö to Södersvik, Vreta and then to Norrtälje with overnight stay at a cozy hostel in Norrtälje (double room with shared shower / WC).

Day 4:

Norrtälje - Söderbykarl (along Vikingavägen)

After a delicious breakfast, the trip goes from Norrtälje to Lohärad (Lohaeredh from 1314), with the many tombs that testify to early settlement and Lohärad's church. You continue around Lake Erken as the second lake, Stockholm County's largest lake. The name means "the shining", which fits nicely on this clear lake. At Erken's beach you can experience cancer fishing in the off-season, and in some places you can buy fresh Erken crayfish to cook yourself.

You continue on to Söderbykarl, where you stay overnight at Wiks Bed & Breakfast (double room with shared shower / WC). Just outside Söderbykarl is King Charles church ruin from the beginning of the 13th century, which is well worth a visit.

Day 5:

Söderbykarl - Väddö - Arholma

The day starts with a good breakfast, as organic, nutritious and fair-labeled as possible. In the valley at Vik, a sensational ship discovery was made by a Viking boat from the 11th century. "The Viking boat" is the best preserved Viking boat found in Central Sweden and can be viewed at the Erikskulle open air museum in Söderbykarl.

The bike ride continues north via Väddö towards Simpnäs jetty where you take the boat over to the island of Arholma. Overnight at a nice hostel in a lovely archipelago environment.

Day 6:

Breakfast and return trip

After breakfast you have time to discover the wonderful surroundings on the island of Arholma, either on foot or by bicycle. In the afternoon you take the boat back to Stockholm (the boat trip is not included in the price).

The boat trip takes 3.5 hours, giving you the opportunity to enjoy the fine archipelago while melting the impressions of your cycling adventure. Food and coffee are available on board.
