Discover the beautiful nature of Österlen with exciting culture from the bike saddle. Bring your own bike or rent one on site. There are several bicycle tours to choose from, and you stay at Hotel Svea, dating back to the 1840s, the largest hotel in Austria with a total of 60 rooms.

Here you live just a stone's throw from the sea. From some of the rooms you can choose to see the sea and the Stenshuvud National Park, or you may prefer a room with a view of the green and leafy garden. The food is in the center, and the chef composes menus with locally produced ingredients by season.

Day 1:

Brantevik, Skillinge and Glimmingehus

Cycle south along the coast and cycle path via the fishing villages of Brantevik and Skillinge. Stop at Gislövshammar, where millstones were once broken. Continue towards Borrby Strand before turning onto Glimmingehus, the Nordic region's best preserved medieval castle.

Check-in is after 3 pm, and the hotel offers rich guest experiences of high quality. Dinner is served in Restaurant Piraten overlooking the changing sea. You are served a dinner consisting of Skåne, traditional food that has been carefully updated to suit modern taste buds. To this is served good Scanian drinks with a large selection of locally produced beer.

Day 2:

Cycle north towards Christinehov's Ekopark

After a delicious breakfast, head north to Christinehov's Ekopark. Here, noble deciduous forests and natural pastures spread out between the stone farms. The wetlands and the large contiguous forest areas make Christinehof an important oasis in the Scanian agricultural landscape. A delight for the diversity. Verkeån runs like a pulse vein through the area, and the deciduous crowns prevent the sun from warming the fresh water before moving on to Brösarp slopes and the outlet at Haväng.

The landscape around Christinehof is a vibrant cultural village and here the cultural houses are close. There are many fine examples of Scanian building history. Don't miss the Alunbruk's half-timbered idyll and a visit to the park around the golden baroque castle.

At the back of the hotel, a lovely three-course menu is served in the restaurant, with a soothing view of the sea.

We were very disappointed at the hotel stay. It included a two-course and a three-course menu that was predetermined. Day 1 we got a cold "chicken stew" on salad leaves for starters and for main course mashed potatoes with mashed potatoes - very tasteless. Day 2 grilled goat cheese on cover for appetizer, cold-cut roast beef with potato gratin for main course and ice cream with strawberry jam for dessert. When I saw this week's lunch menu, I realized that what we got for dinner was leftover lunch! It also includes lunch packages which means that you can pick up food from breakfast. No more visits to Hotel Svea for our part! Incredibly beautiful cycling to Glimmingehus, however, it would have been easier with a real bike map.

Thank you Eva for taking the time to give us your feedback.
It is very regrettable that you were not satisfied with your stay with us at Hotel Svea.
All our packages are a fixed menu that the chefs choose according to the season's ingredients.
You have not received any leftovers but the raw materials may have been the same.
Of course, the food should not be tasteless.
We have made the decision that our lunch package is picked from the buffet, so each one can bring with them exactly what food the person wants.
Maps have been ordered and will be available at the hotel in the future.
We would like to compensate you in the form of a gift card with us so that you can experience how fantastic our food can be.
We will send it home to the address you specified in the booking.
I hope you give us another chance and wish you a warm welcome again.

Sincerely
Kate / reception

It was difficult to find good bike paths, and the staff at Hotel Svea did not seem so familiar either, but referred to the tourist office. The municipality should issue a special bicycle map as a supplement to the Bicycle Promotion Map. There did not seem to be such good communication between the hotel and Sweden By Bike, I had to send many emails to the hotel before we had our wishes met. When we arrived at the hotel the first evening it was also a negative surprise that the menu of our two course was decided by the hotel, it never appeared when we booked. With the help of good help from the receptionist and chef, however, this little problem was solved. Österlen is a very nice and exciting area but at the same time there are very many car tourists who drive very fast!
