In this bike package, the cozy city of Trosa is your goal. You spend the night at the enchanting Trosa Stadshotell & Spa and enjoy the culture of Sörmland, good food and a lot of interesting experiences along the way.
Trosa is a popular tourist destination, especially in the summer. To this, the picturesque location along the Trosa River contributes to the fine promenade and the low wooden houses. Trosa jokingly is called "the end of the world". The origin of this is disputed, but one of the explanations is that the city in its earlier years had only one access road. So you had to turn off the main road and use the same narrow road back and forth.
If you have your own bicycle and will come from the north choose to cycle from the Stockholm area or take commuter train towards Södertälje and cycle on from one of the commuter train stations. If you want to go all the way by public transport from Stockholm to Trosa then you can change to the bus in Södertälje Port or take the Trosabus directly from Liljeholmen (60 min) to Trosa. Note! You must notify if you want to bring your own bike thong bus. Bicycles including helmets are available for rent in Trosa at TeamSportia, which is 2 minutes from the hotel (automatic bikes for both adults and children with packing shelf, approved lock and insurance).
On your bike trip to Trosa you can stop at the Anthroposophists Järna, a small oasis with beautiful cultural houses, cafes, restaurants, shops and the Vidarkliniken. Then you continue down towards the sea and Tullgarn Castle which is one of the royal castles. It was built for Duke Adolf Fredrik more than 200 years ago, and here is among other things a very beautiful castle park.
You then cycle on towards Vagnhärad, which was a role model for "Hedeby" in Sven Delblanc's books, and the TV series Hedebyborna was largely played in the areas around Vagnhärad. In the area around Vagnhärad there are also lots of tombs, rock carvings, ancient castles and runes.
The tour then goes on to Trosa Stadshotell & Spa, where you check in and maybe take a walk along the Trosaån before it's time for a lovely dinner at the hotel. Bathrobes and slippers await your room on arrival and you have free access to the Spa section. It can be nice with a spa treatment after a full day on the bike, but remember that this must be booked in advance.
After a delicious breakfast at the hotel, it's time for a trip south. Nynäs castle and nature reserve is an experience in itself. Here you will find a beautiful kitchen garden, orangery and herb garden. Good food is served at Nynäs restaurant, which is characterized by organic thinking and its own locally produced ingredients.
The bike ride continues towards Stendörren nature reserve, and here you can get out to beautiful cliffs on the nearest islands via suspension bridges. Visit Naturum where you can learn more about the Baltic Sea and the archipelago's nature, environment and cultural history. Hälgö kayak café rents out kayaks, and within reasonable paddle distance there are both Sävö and the fine archipelago around Hartsö and Enskär.
You can also choose to cycle inland towards Gnesta. In the small station community, many craftsmen and artists live and work. There are several local farm shops in the area to visit, and small personal shops with a selection a little out of the ordinary. Do not miss "Trappgatan", 129 steps inside Gnesta which was transformed from ugliest to finest ...
Nature is beautiful, and the beautiful cultural landscape in the surroundings offers many wonderful nature experiences. Sund is an idyll along the shores of Lake Sillens in the middle of the southern countryside.
