Today many of us need to relax and get down in turns. You do this best if you move outside in nature. This bike package gives you the condition of the soul in the form of a relaxing stay at Sundbyholm castle with cycling in the beautiful Sörmland landscape. Specifically, there will be a water glittering tour around Sörfjärden, a bay in Lake Mälaren. You will spend the night in a historic suite with a whirlpool bath (or a suite with both a Jacuzzi and a sauna). In the evening, a four-course dinner awaits at the castle, with white tablecloths and lit candles.
The area is the country's northernmost beech forest. The castle is close to the water with lake views and marina right next door. If you want to make a historical walk in the vicinity of the castle, there is an image motif on a rune carving from the mid-1000's called the Sigurd carving. Back and forth it is about half an hour on foot. It is regarded as Sörmland's largest rock carving and embodies the saga hero Sigurd Fafnesbane in his fight against dragons.
You will arrive at Sundbyholm Castle in the afternoon or evening, and are welcome to check in from 15.00. Here, sparkling wine and chocolates are waiting in the room. If you come cycling from Eskilstuna you can cycle on a cycle track all the way out to the castle.
If you want to cycle west, little Torshälla just north of Eskilstuna is a nice tourist destination. The place is known for its many artists and artisans. Among other things you can see Allan Ebeling's sculptures. Easy road it is about 11 kilometers from the castle.
In the evening, a four-course dinner awaits in the restaurant and then you sleep like a prince in one of the charming rooms. The picture shows Prince Eugene's painting "The Old Castle".
You start the day with a delicious breakfast and replenish energy for today's cycling. When you are ready, you leave in a south-easterly direction along the Strandleden which takes you around the shallow Mälarviken. Extensive reed areas and grazed shoreline meadows have given the cultural landscape a rich flora and fauna. The area is a cultural village with castles from the 17th century, large estates and farms dating back to the Middle Ages.
You cycle through one of Sweden's northernmost beech forests and here you will also find Sigurd's carving, an image-rich rock carving. During the cycle tour you will pass Björsund with the small harbor, Hässelbyholm castle, Vansö church and the Military History Museum in Härad, which contains one of Europe's largest collections of military vehicles. Here you can try yourself driving a mini-car or just take a well-deserved break and enjoy a cup of coffee.
After today's bike ride, is it time for a return trip, if you don't choose to stay an extra night at the castle and end the day with a good dinner?
