Skokloster's castle is not only Sweden's largest private residence of all time, it is also regarded as one of the finest baroque castles in all of Europe. The one who had it erected was the field marshal Carl Gustaf Wrangel who retired from the period 1676. Adjacent to the castle is Skokloster Hotell & Restaurang with 75 rooms and a first class kitchen. An accommodation that dignifies atmosphere in a wonderfully scenic environment at Lake Mälaren.  

Skokloster Hotell & Restaurang is located on the beautiful Sko Peninsula, which has been owned by the von Essen family since 1611. There is a private course for clay pigeon shooting and many nice walking and cycling routes adjacent to the hotel. The chef is Magnus Hansson, who is inspired by the historic castle environment, local products and game.

Since 1967, the castle has been owned by the Swedish state and it is the State Property Agency that manages the administration. Do you want visit the castle it is open Monday to Sunday between 11am and 5pm during June to August. In May and September the castle is open on weekends.

The hotel has a bar, as well as a communal lounge and restaurant. Both WiFi and guest parking are free. There is also a hairdresser and massage parlor. Some rooms have a comfortable seating area, and some offer views of the lake or garden. All rooms have a private bathroom and flat-screen TV.

Do you want cycling on the shoe peninsula there are nice local bike trails and nearby also goes Mälardal trail. You can cycle to Skokloster from Bålsta center via road 263. The road is busy with cars, but the traffic is not heavy or intense. Bålsta has a commuter train connection.
