Experience Scandinavia's fascinating early history with rock carvings and rune stones, burial sites and the oldest Christian churches. You cycle through a rural and welcoming agricultural landscape along winding small roads that are sometimes the same as the Vikings themselves traveled on.

Traces of the past come close during three days of cycling in the countryside around Enköping - one of Sweden's oldest cities. Among other things, you get to see the Bronze Age's mysterious and magical carvings on polished stone slabs and follow the runic carvings Balle and Livsten's chisel tracks in the stately monuments of the Viking Age. In Härkeberga's richly painted stone church, you get close to medieval man in the bustling picture treasure.

This is a cycling package for those who want to cycle on winding small roads and are interested in history and archaeology. Beautiful views, cozy cafes and nice farm shops make the whole trip a pleasure. The cycling is easy; this is a landscape with few slopes and the tour goes along very low-traffic roads. Both overnight stays on the tour take place at Jädra Gårdhotell, which means that packing for the day will be light. Jädra Gårdhotell is located a short and convenient cycling distance from Enköping. Dogs are welcome (booked in advance).

September 2023, Sue H.
We, two seniors from Australia on our first visit to Sweden, enjoyed our time at Jadra Gard. The routes through the rural countryside were very well planned with a variety of historical features. The cycling was generally easy, though we appreciated the ebikes on the windy days. The map and notes were thorough but on occasion we needed our iPhone and Maps.me. The accommodation was comfortable; Thomas and Anna-Mia were excellent hosts.
