From Tynningö it is only a short island jump over to Rindö where the impressive Oskar-Fredriksborg fort stands proudly and protects this important fairway into Stockholm. Vaxholm is your destination with its lively harbor and picturesque alleys. Another island jump takes you over to Ingmarsö with a fantastic natural environment at Östra Lagnö and a sweeping view from Ljusterö Huvud - perhaps the best in the archipelago? Enjoy an unforgettable cruise back to Stockholm that winds its way past islands, narrow canals and idyllic summer houses by the water.

The first bike day is a quiet bike ride around the Tynningö and Rindö islands with just over 20 km of hilly terrain on a mixture of gravel road and asphalt. The second day on Ljusterö is a longer cycling day with up to 47 km on gravel road, small roads and the main road Ljusterövägen through the island (approx. 6 km).
Note that you do not have all day to complete the cycle distances. Day 1 you leave the archipelago boat at Tynningö at about 11.00. Day 2 you have between 5-6 hours for cycling - the distance is between 35-47 km. The cycle path is simple with slightly hilly terrain. The trip can also start at Nacka Strand & Hasseludden in Nacka or Gåshaga bridge on Lidingö.
In the morning you take the archipelago boat from Stockholm to Tynningö, an island with magnificent villas along the coast. The beautiful coastal road takes you around the island and you cycle as close to the sea as possible, passing beaches and the impressive viewpoint at Tynningö Klack. Back on the coastal road, you meander north of the island and take the afternoon boat to the next island, Rindö.
Rindö is known for its military facilities, including Oskar-Fredriksborg fort and Rindö Redutt, both strategically located to protect these important waterways into Stockholm. Explore the island by bike and enjoy a break and refreshments in the lively Rindö harbor with its local cheese makers, breweries and nice restaurant by the water.
A quick change of island to the charming village of Vaxholm, often called the gateway to the Stockholm archipelago due to its location at the edge of this vast archipelago. Enjoy the atmosphere of this idyllic archipelago village with its lively harbor, colorful wooden villas and views of the impressive fortress, Kastellet. You stay at Waxholms Hotell, a boutique hotel located right next to the harbor.
In the morning, you and your bikes board the archipelago boats again to continue the journey to Ljusterö. Ljusterö is one of the archipelago's largest islands and offers much to discover. Your journey begins with the coastal road along the west coast and passes the lively harbor at Linanäs and the charming fishing village Laggarsvik. On the way you make a short detour to Ljusterö Huvud to enjoy one of Stockholm's archipelago's absolute best views.
In the afternoon, follow small roads along the narrow peninsula Östra Lagnö which extends about 10 kilometers into the outer archipelago. The rocks have been sanded smooth by the ice sheet from the ice age. It is a magical place with wonderful views of the horizon.
After a period of reflection in this beautiful place, it is time to return to the pier and hop on the boat that takes you on to Svartsö where you can have dinner at a classic archipelago bistro before jumping on the last boat. Sit back and enjoy the boat trip that passes island after island until you reach lively Stockholm.
