The landscape in eastern Jämtland is magnificent. Here are high mountains, deep valleys, forests and lakes. This bike package includes a sense of adventure with a local touch, history that stretches back to the Stone Age, wild and domestic animals and an exquisite flora to get acquainted with. Who is better suited to tell about all the exciting things on offer than the well-traveled foreign correspondent Marika Griehsel who has her roots in the village of Gimdalen? She will be your local guide and hostess at Mogården, which she runs together with her husband Simon.

Photographer: Simon Stanford

According to Jämtland tradition, you will be well taken care of from arrival to departure. You will be picked up and transported to the train station in Bräcke. During your eventful days in the area around Gimdalen, you will get to know the headstrong and proud landscape on your own terms. Did you know that safari means "to travel" in Swahili?

We know Marika Griehsel as SVT's correspondent in Africa. Fearless, driven and with deep commitment. Simon Stanford is a world-class documentary filmmaker, producer and director. They welcome you to their home in Jämtland where you will experience encounters with people, animals and magnificent nature. In a sustainable way.

July 2021
We spent some nice days in Gimdalen with Marika and Simon as host couple with their son Elliot. Delicious food, sometimes with South African dishes, sometimes cooked over an open fire in the woods or on a beach, was an important part of our stay. Every morning we cycled and took a morning dip by a beautiful beach and then cycled home for breakfast in the garden. And our cycling excursions were very nice and reasonably demanding. Yes, everything was so good - not least the exciting conversations about Africa we had with our host couple. We will certainly return to Gimdalen!
