Cycle along the Southeast Trail through southern Småland, Blekinge and to southeastern Skåne. The south-east route is almost completely car-free and more than 80 % of the bike trail is paved with asphalt. This bike package starts in Växjö at the Travel Center and ends in Simrishamn on Österlen, 5 days, 4 nights. You live in cozy, selected accommodation along the way. You can also choose to stay in hotels of a slightly higher standard (from SEK 4,000 / person and accommodation in double rooms) by entering it in your booking. From the bicycle package's final destination, it is possible to pre-book a private transfer back to the starting point.

Please note that the tour can start in both Växjö and Simrishamn (optional direction). The tour can be both extended and shortened (distance, number of days) if desired.

Day 1 - Växjö-Urshult

In Växjö there are cozy alleys, cobblestones and red cabins but also shopping and exciting entertainment. When you are at the Eko Temple, Växjö's water tower, you are at the highest point of this tour - 203 meters above sea level. Enjoy the beautiful scenery as you step south.

Several routes run on abandoned runways, and you pass old station houses, pavilions and beautiful bridges that remain from the railroad era. Overnight stay in Urshult at the southern tip of Åsnen, which is the county's largest lake.

Day 2 - Urshult - Karlshamn

Today's bike ride will take you from wooded to coastal. Stop for a while and admire one of Småland's longest and most beautiful stone bridges in Blidingsholm, where the trail crosses the Mörrum River.

Overnight stay in Karlshamn, which is a lively and charming coastal town with the archipelago just outside the door. From 1850 and seventy years onwards, one million Swedes emigrated to America. Many took the boat from Karlshamn and therefore the monument was erected by "Karl Oskar and Kristina" to their memory in Hamnparken by the sea.

Day 3 - Karlshamn - Kristianstad

hotelQuality Hotel Grand Kristianstad

After a delicious breakfast, you cycle on towards Mörrum, the center of the river's famous salmon fishing. Here people come from near and far to fish but also to experience the environment around the river, restaurant Kungsforsen and the aquarium next to the exhibition.

You then continue towards Sölvesborg, and here is among others Europe's longest pedestrian and bicycle bridge (760 meters long). Feel free to take a little longer stop to explore this nice city. In the block around Stortorget you will find cafes, shops and restaurants and in the harbor there is "Four seasons park", created by the Dutch garden designer Piet Oudolf.

Then you cycle on towards Kristianstad, the city founded in 1614 by the Danish king Christian IV. Kristianstad was originally built as a fortress, surrounded by wetlands that provided a natural defense. Parts of the city are below sea level, and in the middle of the city, and at the same time in the middle of nature, Kristianstad's latest pride is nature Vattenriket. You can choose to see the exhibition on your own or join a guided tour. Overnight stay at the nice Quality Hotel Grand Kristianstad.

Day 4 - Kristianstad - Brösarp

hotelBrösarps Hospitality & Spa

directions_bikeAbout 52 km

After breakfast you leave Kristianstad behind you and cycle south towards Åhus and the coast. Åhus is one of Sweden's best-preserved medieval cities and has much to remind you of the Danish era. Narrow alleys are bordered by picturesque half-timbered houses. At the mouth of Helgeån lies the ruins of the castle of Aosehus, which began to be built in the 1100s, and the rest of the city walls remain.

In Friseboda you cycle right out along the sea. Enjoy the views of sandy beaches, eel booths and endless blue sea. From the cycle path on the embankment at Maglehem you can depart to the Café, gallery and mill museum Blåherremölla. Brösarp is the northern gateway to Österlen, and here you spend the night at a really genuine Scanian inn.

Day 5 - Brösarp - Simrishamn

RestaurantBreakfast
directions_bikeAbout 49 km

After a good breakfast, the tour continues through cultivated landscapes, pastures and forests. You cycle past Vitaby church, which from its height looks out over the landscape, and through Kivik village where the apple is in focus. With apple orchards, the apple kingdom, Kivik's museum and in the fall: the apple market. We strongly recommend that you walk up to the top of Stenshuvud, 97 meters above sea level, where you have a mile-wide view.

Simrishamn, which is the final destination, dates back to the 12th century and is known for its pastel-colored houses with beautifully carved doors. You can feel the scent of roses if you go for a walk among these houses on a nice summer day. If you want transport back to the bike package's starting point, you can pre-book a private transfer. It costs about 1500 SEK / person (including bicycle and luggage).

Current cancellation costs:
- free cancellation up to 30 days before the start date.
- 50% refund 29-15 days before start date.
- no refund 14 days before start date.

However, full refund applies until the day before the start date if you yourself or a close relative becomes ill in covid-19, or if the Public Health Agency advises against traveling.

Booking fee SEK 1,000 is paid via invoice to the organizer no later than 10 days after receipt of confirmation (deducted upon final payment). The remaining amount must be received by the organizer no later than 30 days before the start of the trip.

Simple and convenient way to book travel. Super satisfied with everything, except that the first accommodation was a little lower class. The folder with a map and information about places and sights nearby was really good.

We cycled both Sydostleden and Sydkustleden in August. It was a very smooth handover of bicycles with accessories both at the start in Växjö and the finish in Helsingborg. Throughout the tour, Monika on Sakura Tours was very easy to reach when needed. She also checked via text message how it went, which was very much appreciated! One of us had problems with the bike during the first days. Monika immediately contacted the bicycle supplier, who met up a few days later to get the bicycle ready. The joints themselves were mostly clearly signposted. The accommodations were of varying quality. Good to keep in mind is that many cafes, galleries, small shops, are closed for the season (or only open on weekends) in mid / late August. Had we known that, we would have chosen to cycle in July. Overall, we are very satisfied!

The total cost will be very high compared to booking on your own. For this price, some lunch package, welcome package etc could have been included. The hotels are nothing special but everything is standard which feels strange as the cost is almost double per room. There is a lot to discover along the way, but great demands are placed on oneself to find the ways to the detours. Had been good with a little clearer instructions. Cycling was a very pleasant experience.

Hey! Overall, we are satisfied, fantastic service from Sakura Tours. Generally expensive as no lunch or dinner is included. Accommodation in Urshult needs to be much better. The best accommodation is B&B in Karlshamn, but the worst food out at a restaurant. Poor service and food at Vägga, by the marina in Karlshamn. The signage in Skåne of Sydostleden must be remedied. The signs were completely wrongly placed in Viby, between Kristianstad and Åhus. Those who put up the signs are probably not cyclists, they do not sit straight ahead in the direction of travel but along and obliquely backwards. This led to several kilometers of incorrect driving. We saw that more people had done the same thing and crossed a dangerous railway crossing instead of cycling back and finding their way. This is in Viby. The signs in Åhus before you get to the port need to be clearer and more.

Great help from Monica Sakura Tours.

Drove lost at the start out of Växjö, took a wrong turn and followed other red and white signs (according to residents in the area south of Växjö, this has happened to more cyclists). Good if the municipality of Växjö can at least pave some more of its part of the embankment. The trail is well suited for children from the young age. 12 (maybe 10) years, in a southerly direction.

Fantastic bike ride with a lot of variety in the nature experience. The only thing that was a bit boring were long straights on the embankments. Very nice accommodation with good service and hospitality.

Top accommodation except the one in urshult nice host couple and good breakfast m half sunny accommodation. The top Anna's hotel crisis city the others also good. Cycling bags hard to handle o difficult to carry at stops o walks along the bike. Better with bicycle bags that are easy to hook on and off to carry.

Hi Yvonne!
I agree that the host couple at Urshults Hotel are very, very nice, but that the place needs to be renovated a bit! Unfortunately, the accommodation options are quite few along this stretch of the Southeast Trail.
As for the bike bags we talked about this, and new ones are already ordered!
Big thanks for your feedback and welcome again!
